I was told to pray to receive the gift of tongues. i previously thought that praying in tongues was a gift only certain christians received. I have been praying for the gift but have not received it yet. is there anyone who can speak/interpret in this secret prayer language? And how was the gift received? Please pray that i would receive it.

What is your reason and motive for wanting tongues? Tongues may or may not be the gift God wants you to have and he will especially not give it if the reason and the motive in the heart does not align with his. I have wanted the gift of healing for a very long time but he never gave it me but he did show me other gifts he gave me and taught me a different kind of healing gift I have

I always wonder what value it is speak in tongues. If there is someone who doesn't speak your language but needs to have you explain them something, then it would serve a valuable purpose to speak in tongues, but how often does that happen? My suspicion is that most people who think they speak in tongues really don't. Anyway, Paul did say this:


[27] If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn; and let one interpret.
[28] But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silence in church and speak to himself and to God. 1 Cor 14:27-28 RSV

I have seen some fake it pretty good but I recognized some orc words from world of warcraft
