My son purchased a house about 9 months ago and has recently discovered that the chimney has a crack in it and when it rains hard, water runs in behind the wall around the chimney (the inspector failed to catch this when she inspected the house before he bought it) and there is water damage behind the walls in the living room and the basement, along with some mold. Please pray that he can get all of this fixed (and fixed right) without it costing him an arm and a leg.

Homeowner's insurance ought to help him keep his arm and leg, but he still might have to pay a finger or two. (Deductible. lol) I'd ask for my money back from the inspector, in hopes that wasted money would pay the deductible.

Lord, please let this be easier for Dan's son then you made that sidewalk issue on me. Amen.

(Just for reference, Dan. We had a trip-and-fall suit laid on us back in January strictly because we had to save enough money to repair the sidewalk, but by the time we did, our steps went, and our steps are the only way out of our house. Instead of getting all me like -- freak out and blow my top -- God told me just to let our homeowners insurance deal with it. I think they're still working on it. I haven't called them since March, and it sounded like it would take six months, but they clearly told me to stop worrying about it. Add to that, because my family knows what we're going through, one of my brothers sent us a check. Exactly enough to pay for the new sidewalk, get John dentures when he's finally able to do that, buy 90-pounds-less John a summer wardrobe, and get my own teeth-problems dealt with. I never asked for money, and never told anyone what we need some for, so clearly God working that out. So, although it was inconvenient not to have a sidewalk one day, and then not to be able to walk on the fresh pour another day, God rarely gives us anything this easy. So, I was praying he do it that easy for your son.)

Good news! My son got his chimney fixed at a very reasonable cost and his friend has some friends who will take care of the water damage behind the wall around the chimney. Some of the original bids that he received to do these jobs were much more expensive. Insurance blew him off because the house is older and they considered it maintenance. He would end up having to sue the house inspector and that would cost too much. It's all working out though. Praise the Lord! He has been really stressed over this whole mess. Thank you all so much for your prayers! :)

Always great to have skillful friends. I'm glad it's working out easier than he feared.

Suing doesn't have to happen with the house inspector. Sometimes I just ask for some money back when what was promised wasn't delivered. Most the times the businesses just says no, but because businesses like satisfied customers they do give some money back. I figure I won't get anything if I don't ask, but I might if I so. And if I don't? Oh well. More important things to think about than suing.

I would, however, find a different insurance company though. That one just said, "Don't ever expect us to do what we're supposed to do." 30 years of rewarding that behavior isn't going to change the behavior.

(No mechanical skills here, so I'm the one that deals with bills and businesses. Can you tell? lol)
