I will pray for you Jay. Take comfort in the fact that if you did not hear His call, or feel His Spirit at all, you would NOT care or feel anxiety about it. The Lord will burn away the dross in our hearts, and purify us for His Glory and our good. I can attest that this can be a painful, albeit necessary process the Holy Spirit will do.

stop looking at the failure of the past. Christ's presence on this earth was open rebuke to absolutely everyone, telling us how needy we are. telling us how we have failed to the uttermost to save ourselves; to be able to do anything for ourselves apart from God.
we are needy, Jay, for what only God can give. it's not just you.
there is a Remedy, a Rescuer, a Redeemer.

If you know he called you in 2009, you did recognize him. Doesn't mean we're necessarily bright enough to follow immediately. He calls. He brings. He loves. He shows mercy, longsuffering, grace, and oodles and oodles of PATIENCE!
You're feeling frustrated now because you think you blew it. You did screw up, (we all do, so that's a given), but you can't be so bad he forgets about you. He's God. The only time he forgets is when he chooses to forget. Repent. (Turn from sin to him. That's what repent means.) He chooses to forgive and forget.
He's with you. He's omnipresent so it's not like he can be anything but with you at all times. He's Dad! THE Dad! Perfect Dad! Tell him whatever it is you don't want to tell us because he already knows. Talk to him. Let him see where you are. And remember he is Dad so he's willing to work in you to fix it.
Sometimes we need God the King of the Universe. Sometimes we just need our Daddy. Sounds like you need Daddy. Go to Daddy and he is there.

I can absolutely sympathize with your feelings, and I have to DAILY renew my mind in His Word and promises. I believe you can take great comfort in Jesus' account of the prodigal son. There is so much to learn in that story. One of the more recent revelations in that story is that the son THOUGHT that he had lost his sonship. He just hoped to come back as the lowliest of servants. The truth is that his father COULDN'T WAIT for him to come home and ran to hug him before he even got to the house.
You are saved because of WHO Jesus is, and what He has done. NOT what you have done. Have peace brother. You are GREATLY loved.

He returns. Not responding on the thread again isn't the same as not returning. (And this isn't a guess. He really does return.) My hubby is like that. He's returned over and over again to FB, and yet has only liked and/or posted about a dozen times in seven years. He's more into seeing than speaking.
I was saved when I was 16. I started using drugs right about the same time. I felt like God would never forgive me for that so I kept doing it and sunk deeper and deeper until I had not choice but go to Daddy or die. I was 21 when I truly repented. 21 when I went to rehab. (Six months to figure out how to stop on my own, not realizing I was never on my own.) It's like that sometimes. The guilt and the shame stops us from thinking he'd ever forgive us, and yet... once he does, yet again, we think, "Why did I wait so long?"
I've got family who took longer than I did. I admire the ones smart enough NOT to do that.
