No, don't irritate him on purpose... the Word says a soft answer turns away wrath (Proverbs 15:1), and to honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long (Exodus 20:12).

Regardless of what he has done in the past, the guy is messed up inside (or he would be better), so keep an attitude of forgiveness and respect towards him knowing that the Lord desires to save him and deliver him from whatever it is that causes him to be ugly.

No need to take the Bible... God's Word is in your heart, and people need to see the Living Word in someone's life before they could ever believe. You are the only Jesus he may ever see.
Yeah......he used to be a Christian....

Hey, sister. I'm sorry. I don't have any wisdom to share, but I'll be praying for you, mate. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and only Him. Trust Him to His promises. Whatever happens, it's in His capable hands. God bless you.

If I bring a Bible with me you can be sure he will attack me.
He strongly hates ANY religion.
No daughter of his will ever hold a Bible in his presence
The bible is the greatest sword there possibly is. Pray to God and he won't dare attack you with a Bible in your hand. But if you don'tr want to bring it that's fine. Hope everything goes well and please be safe. You been through so much, hope this goes well. Be confident and loving

Sigh..... I'm gonna try to be safe....
Everyone in my life is so much against this and so I feel bad, like I'm letting everyone down and making a stupid decision to see my father again.....

Well, don't give up on him.... it's an honor to work with the Lord to win him back.

Which will have to be done by you living well in the Lord and growing up to be strong in faith.

The Lord will teach you how to answer him and others the oppose the Lord... but you're going to at some point have to study God's Word and pray for yourself so He can lead you.

Try not to put so much stock in what others say and let the Lord lead and guide you as only He can... He wants to be your everything!

Yeah....I know....
I just think I actually have to get a relationship with him back before he will remotely listen to anything I have to say about religion

Cart before horse... only the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ can do anything about getting his attention... your first order of business (this be true for all of us) is to walk with the Lord and grow in your relationship with Him.

Without Jesus before your first love and the first and primary focus of your life... failure is all there is to look forward to in all aspects of life.

I know I have no experience with this situation but all I can say is he's still your father. Don't ever feel ashamed or guilty by wanting to meet with your father. Forgiveness is everything and you said, you'll have protection so you should be fine. Family is family always remember that

This really comes down to... how much time do you give to the Lord to pay attention to Him?

Good uplifting praise and worship music is good (secular music opposes Jesus, just listen to what the focus is)

Reading the Gospels is good, as well as the Book of Acts and the rest of the books. Do you have a good translation that's easy to read? I heard the ESV was OK and the NASB was pretty good.

Spending quiet time with the Lord telling Him you love Him and thanking Him that His promises are true is good (maybe a little praise and worship music playing in the background).

Lots of stuff to do, including finding a good church that teaches the Bible where other folks your age hang out... gotta place like that?

Whatever you do, don't give up on the Lord.... eventually, you'll figure out that He is the only One that really, really, really, eally, really, really, eally, really, really, eally, really, really, eally, really, really, REALLY loves you!

One way of honoring the Lord and growing in Him is... to share with others.

If you have a relationship with the Lord, it would benefit both you and those you age is you hung out with them a little more and influence them away from being worldly and towards their relationship with the Lord.

Those that water, will be watered (Proverbs 11:25), and those that give will be given to (Luke 6:38)

I hang out with people my age I just don't do large groups of kids my age well.
They have their friends and they aren't interested in seeing what I may have to see.
I'm fine with where I lay in my church family....

In the end, it is up to YOU to make the decision as to whether you want to see your dad or not. If you feel it's worth it, then do it. Just listen to your gut instinct.. :)
