This Sunday, my oldest brother is having the Christmas family get together. (Younger brother is a chef, so he works on every holiday.)

My family isn't easy to get along with, and John (hubby) holds on to every crappy thing they've said about me or have done to us, but they are family. And, after he got over the anger, he wanted to go again, but he's been disabled for years, and some days he just can't go.

That means he hasn't met either brother's wife. (Any brother's wife, but the other wife is now ex-wife.) And he hasn't met any of the nephews. (And two of the nephews are in their early teens now so it truly has been a long time.) And my brothers have done some very, (VERY) kind things for us when John was sick. So we really really want to go this Sunday.

Little problem. The weather. A snowstorm would be an improvement. They're talking freezing rain. Add freezing rain to darkness, and that means icy roads. Younger brother (and older brother) are coming up from VA. We're all meeting in the eastern middle of New Jersey, which is 1.5 hours from us. (And we're both disabled so that's on the verge of "too far.")

So, please pray they're wrong on that storm. Saturday, instead of Sunday is good, since Monday everyone is headed over to see Dad. (Another hour's drive, so we can't.) Also, probably the day the Virginians drive home.

So prayers for a decent day in the Midlantic States AND we're both able to go. Please.

Oh, and it would be nice to have something we can actually eat when we get there. (When I say my family is hard to get along with, John and I can't eat a lot of things -- red meat, salt, dairy, sugar -- and my family tends to believe that's all in our heads so specialize in red meat with cheese and salt. Sugar, they gave up on, but only because diabetes hit three out of six kids so far.)

We can get around the food thing -- not so much ice though. Thanks.

I have prayed for favorable weather conditions for safe travel to and from the Christmas family get-together. We had our family Christmas get-together on New Years Eve and had beautiful weather but then again, we live in sunny Florida. I also pray that there is food that both you and your husband can enjoy and that the entire family gets along and has a good time.

We're going over to 295 in Jersey, then off onto 95. But my Virginian brothers will be taking 64 to the Washington Beltway, then up 95, before they go over to 295 in Jersey. Those roads will be salted and cleared. It's the back streets and driveways that will be dangerous, (unless God's weather plans aren't what the meteorologists are predicting.)

And it can't happen on Monday either, because Dad is going to have five out of six kids visit him. There are very few main streets where he lives, and he lives at the foothills of the Poconos, so there are some I-wouldn't-want-to-bike-up-it hills around there. (The type of hills you're just as likely to walk up next to your bike rather than try to peddle up them. lol)

The storm is coming tomorrow night. And Sunday it will be partly cloudy and get into the 40's, so a whole day of melting and drying. No snow expected on Monday either!

Thank you, Lord! I was pretty sure you'd fix this for us.
