John (hubby) has been doing so good for so long, we got used to it. (Definitely not a complaint. lol) But a couple of things from the olden days (pre heart attack) have returned that has hit the point it is bothering him emotionally and physically.

He gets insomnia. He can sleep, it's a matter of when he sleeps. He can't sleep at night. He sleeps most of the day. And, while we're being very good on eating right, (he's better than I am), the blood pressure has gone up to nervous high. He doesn't eat salt. His sugar readings are hitting about 100 every day, so he is eating properly. And yet, high blood pressure is back.

Our best guess is because he can't sleep at night.

He's also getting depressed because he can't do anything when he is awake. (Rowhome, so we can't run a vacuum cleaner/Hoover at night, and can't go shopping. He'd make dinner, but I'm sleeping, and he likes making dinner for me, but I'm pretty against eating dinner first thing in the morning.)

He needs to get back on schedule. Please pray he does soon, because the longer he can't sleep at night the more he gets depressed. This is his second week of not sleeping at night.

Lord we pray let your healing be upon John, let he be able to sleep well and every body activity be normal. Yes Lord we agree with this prayer, please bless. In Jesus Holy name, Amen!

Will pray that he stays awake during the day and gets to spend more time with you while you both are awake.

Hi Lynn,

So sorry for you guys. :(

One thing I tried for sleep is
benadryl. It helps both my hubby and myself.

Also, this doesn't help all people, but hubby does better with noise. We have a TV in our room and he watches it until he falls asleep which is usually within an hour or two. He goes to bed earlier in the evening so it works for us.

Once he falls asleep, because I got used to his routine, I watch movies that don't have the volume that rises to an unreal pitch and then drops to a normal tone. An even volume is best for me.

I also watch movies or tv shows that I've already seen a few times so that I don't want to continue watching as I get sleepy. :) For some - this it may seem boring, but that's the point. It's white noise and it works.

I'll be praying you find something that works.

*On the HBP, does he take
pains meds?

Here's hoping. He did sleep last night, but only for 6 hours. (He has CFS, so 6 hours to him is like 4 hours for the rest of us -- better than not sleeping at all, but not enough to consider it regular sleep.) And today we went grocery shopping together, the hard way. It snowed earlier in the week, so it's easier to walk to the store (except when we hit corners, because few people shovel corners), than to get the car out and hope for a parking spot when we returned. (Less parking after snow, because it all depends on how to get into a bare spot.) So we walked a mile. Tuckered him out, so he's napping. If all works out right, he'll be able to sleep tonight.

And he can't use Benadryl. Decongestant and allergy medications all spike up the blood pressure. (Benadryl used to be my go-to sleep aid too. lol)

So, if he can sleep tonight, his system is reset for a while.
