After being in an abusive relationship most of my life. I left him and found a wonderful man. I find it hard to trust him. He treats me perfectly and couldn't ask for any better. He may now leave me for my lack of trust. I love him with my whole heart. I want to marry him. He is caring and good to my children. Please I ask for prayers to help me though this period of heart break and for him to find peace with me.

Don't blow it!! Apologize to him for your fears and lack of trust and promise to get into counseling right away. Find self help books on building trust, after abuse. This is your Cinderella moment, fight for it with all your might.

I'm second wife. (But I'm #1 wife. lol) There are two kinds of trust to be earned:
1. Does he love me completely?
2. Does he trust me not to be like his first wife?

Yes. He loves me completely.

After 35 years he believes that I am not his first wife most of the time. Most of the time. It's hard to get over being abused. I'm not sure anyone really "gets over" it. It changes them. Some to the good and some to the bad. But, for him, the bad comes when he doesn't trust someone else. God. (It happens to all of us sometimes.)

So, questions for you:
1. Do you love him completely?
2. Does he love you completely?

If either of those questions is No, then it's important for you to figure out if it's worth pursuing.

And the biggest question:
1. Do you both trust God completely? (Excluding those dumb moments when we don't.)

If that's a No, it's definitely a sign that there is something seriously wrong with whoever doesn't -- in or out of that relationship.

If the answers to all those questions is Yes, then ask him to marry you!

Not trusting that he isn't the last guy? That just comes with time.
