Now that you have put down the bottle, and hopefully also all other mind and mood altering substances, it is possible to stop using completely, lose the desire to use, and find a new way to live. Millions have walked as you have in life, and still found relief to recover from alcoholism and drug abuse. Once you are recovered enough physically from detoxing, I would highly recommend going to AA meetings. There should be a number of daily meetings near enough to you regardless of where you live. Some people suggest ninety meetings in ninety days. An important aspect for many at the beginning stages of recovery is to change your habits and playgrounds and also stop hanging out with people who are using if at all possible, until you know for sure that it is not a temptation to you any more. Get a sponsor, and work the steps
