For some time, I've been asking for prayers of healing for my back and knees after injuring them due to an incident which I blame myself for wholeheartedly because I was being so vain and arrogant by trying to impress people. I wasn't allowed to see a physical therapist because of personal setbacks and I'm realizing that I only want to get better for selfish reasons....so instead, I just ask that you would pray that I can find ways to exercise, get better, and stay healthy for the glory of God.

Heavenly Father, the two people above me and I are in need of regular god honoring exercise. Please motivate us to do what you want us to do in Jesus' name, amen.

I don't think it's selfish to want to get better.

aaanyway .... can you give new try at getting a physio? It's nice to have someone to both make sure you don't hurt yourself, and push you on if you want to give up.

Is she saying she can't afford a physical therapist?

Oooh, I'm not too bright today.

Maybe there are organizations that help with that kind of things if needed?

I think it might be a matter of whether or not she has insurance, and if so, how much does she have to pay out of her pocket? I'm not aware of any charitable groups or organizations that subsidize this sort of thing on a large scale.

I've got a bad back. I've had one since 1999. It's not getting any better (unless God does a miracle), but by now it is getting worse. I've been trying to ask all kinds of doctors for help, but what I've been saying and what they hear are two different things.

(I'm saying, "Help me find someone who can teach me how not to aggravate it further." They're hearing, "I want it fixed. Do something. Anything.")

Finally, after doing my own research, (specifically because I knew exercising it could either help or hurt it, and I don't know which kinds of exercises would have which results), I finally found the type of doctor to go to. Physiatrist. (No. I did not misspell psychiatrist. lol) And since I can't pronounce that word, I'll give you the layman's version -- rehab doctor.

She taught me what to do for exercising for my particular needs, thus saving the $180 a week (and that's just copay) it would cost to see a therapist for months on end. It is so worth seeing such a doctor.

Yes, you will need to exercise your back, but don't you want to know what kind of exercise would help? And wouldn't you prefer to avoid the type that would hurt it more?

Invest. It's worth it, even if it's not covered in your insurance. I'd rather find out in two years that you used to have a bad back than find out you've joined those of us with chronic bad backs at such a young age. (Somehow getting a bad back later in life isn't so bad.)

Oh, now! Let's not get carried away. That kind of thinking starts getting others praying for you and me to have patience.

Next thing you know...

The going price on my insurance plan is $60 a visit. Three visits per week. Usually 6 weeks of visits. I get a special discount because I'm on medicare. $33 a visit. That's 10th of my Disability check per week.

She's still in her 20's, so those copays mean a lot to her too. (I'm guessing.)

Well, it was my vanity and arrogance that got me into this situation in the first place. And as I mentioned earlier, I had selfish reasons for wanting to get better. I appreciate the prayers regardless. I just pray that I can get better and stay healthy to honor God. :)

you've heard that 'where there's a will, there's a way', and it is so true -
the ways are always there, it's the 'will' that gets in the way:rolleyes:...

a very great benefit for both hub and me is the 'exercise-ball', we blow it up about
twice its size and boy can you get some awesome stretches in so many areas,
front and back..
it takes practice and patience and always you must be in a position to be able to
brace yourself if you should lose your balance, like putting your one leg up on
a chair or couch - relaxing on it is the KEY and this takes a few minutes to achieve,
especially if you are already hurting, but relief will come at some point, it just takes
time and practice and patience...
