Brothers and sisters please pray for me. I stuggle with habitual sin and starting last night it has been hard to get excited about the Word of God. It just doesn't stir me like it did and lately today I have just been feeling depressed and forlorn. I know I should meditate on Scripture but I am finding it hard to even pick my Bible up to start reading. I will pray for God to show Himself in my life and help get me excited about having a relationship with Christ and I am asking anyone to send a prayer for me as well.

Thank you, brothers and sisters. God bless you

His word says when we draw near, He will in return.. it is our choice to come closer and He's given enough reason, if that doesn't excite you then I'm afraid no new thing will catch your attention... Salvation from your sins and Him loving you first should be the only motivation one needs... Offer your body as a living sacrifice and get beyond how you feel... Results are a promise, but only if you put in the effort.. I'll be praying

You are right. God has given me every reason to trust Him and no reason to slip away. I am not blaming God for my predicament but only myself. After I prayed I picked up my Bible and am reading as we speak. I will not allow satan to further my self-pity. satan enjoys filling a Christians mind up with his past sins and that is exactly what is happening.

"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. [SUP]8 [/SUP]Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. [SUP]9 [/SUP]Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. [SUP]10 [/SUP]Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up." - James 4:7-10

Thank you for your prayers; I will spend most of my day meditating and drawing near to the Lord.

If I came across as if I thought you blamed Him it wasn't my intention.. I didn't think so

It's okay. I can see how my post can give that inference. Thank you for your clarification. God bless you

Thank you sister. I feel better knowing there are people out there who have gone through the same thing and come back from it. I just need to get through this issue and draw nearer to the Lord.

As Tabitha said, we have all been there for "whatever reason". What works for me when I find myself "slipping" or "distracted", I listen to my favorite worship artists. There's one in particular who really speaks the things I want to say. Lauren Daigle. You can find her on YouTube. Whether it's her, or someone else... the Lord reaches our hearts through others... which always brings us back to His Word and His arms. Hang tight, He's right there with you!

Of course, sin clouds our minds and makes it difficult to enjoy life. We crave the sin but the sin doesn't satisfy us. You need to repent of your sin.

As for getting excited about the Word of God, I don't think the Lord expects us to get excited. He just wants us to learn.

I prayed after I posted this thread and have read some of the Word and have since regained my hunger for His presence. Draw near to the Lord and He will draw near to you. He will never abandon His children:) thank you all for your encouragement and thanks to the Lord most of all for helping me back into His presence. God bless you all!

yeah I have known this all too well and most times it's not always the spirit leaving you for a time but rather boredom can set in,not because God's word is truly dull but rather our minds want something of the world because we're all accustomed to keeping up with what is new or finding something that looks exciting to take up our time,it's very common place,I mean it is from a physical stand point understandable because unless you find interest in the bible through the way you like best,it becomes a repetitious"chore" in your mind,I see that you've already received prayers and good advice, and you are feeling better spiritually, just thought I'd mention to try changing how you read the bible, true you still read alongside the holy spirit to study the bible, but repetition can be a downer so try to change things up a little, for example alot of times before going to sleep,I take my bible and open it to a random page, read a chapter, then go to sleep,or at one point I even wrote a memory teachings composition, all about multiple titles of many who are mentioned in the bible, and while I mainly did it to become a Christian children church teacher,it actually was exciting because I not only went through the entire bible once but also, learned more, and didn't feel so down about reading the bible,so if you think you made need an interest boost, try making a biblical challenge for yourself,or ask church members for one, like what is the shortest verse in the bible,or how many of Jesus's disciples had the first name Judas,it really can be enlightening and thrilling, just find what gets you wanting to read more,I mean sure no guarantees but it couldn't hurt right? well I hope this helps you or at least gave you some idea of how to not feel so down or feel less drawn toward the bible,it happens as tabitha said,so stay strong, you'll be fine!

I agree with the drugs and adulterous behaviors, though not on the rock n roll, IMO people can stand up to his lies and shout no more...

I don't think you should have the attitude of I have to read my bible. Neither should you beat your head over it if you fail to read it. While it may be true that we should read the bible as it will teach us about God and help us grow in Christ, we are not to make reading the bible a legalistic rule to follow. Once you stop making reading the bible a rule to follow, you might just find yourself more drawn to reading it. You might also enjoy reading it. With that said, I will pray for you.
