It seems to me there are two issues at work. First is faith. We need to trust the Lord. However, trusting the Lord can be difficult if we aren't doing his will. Perhaps there are one or more areas in your life where you need to try harder to conform to the Lord's commandments.

Anxiety can be triggered by so many things and I think until a person uncovers the root cause of theirs and address that particular issue, the vicious cycle may continue. Yes, it is a battle in the mind, but it also can be the result of imbalances in a person's diet, hormones, chemicals, medications, job, situational circumstances, relationships, personality, priorities, commitments, etc. Many times anxiety is brought on when one of these factors can really be the blame.

Try to sort through these compartments of your personal life and see that each one has been dealt with.

As far as the spiritual element involved, form a prayer team to surround you and ask them to be your prayer warriors when you do not feel strong enough to carry yourself. God is sovereign and we don't always know how or why He allows certain things to happen, but we do know that He promises to use it for ur good.

Ask Him for wisdom. I sincerely hope and pray you find the answers you are looking for.

Anxiety and OCD go hand in hand, though. As well as depression. In the OPs case you have to see OCD as the primary cause.

And it's not about a lack of faith or whispering demons. Those are answers from the cruel and clueless.

"but we do know that He promises to use it for ur good."

Sorry for the typo - should read "but we do know that He promises to use it for our good."

Just relax. When you keep fighting off these thoughts, you are not relaxing. In fact, you are making the thoughts worse by trying to get rid of them.

realize that God will never give you more than you can bear. I know this sounds ridiculous because it feels like it sometimes. He is Promised as he will never give us more than we can humanly bear and he will always give us a way of Escape... believe me I have a lot of anxiety and other problems and it feels sometimes like I can't bear it any longer but I just always remember that and I know that I've felt this many times before in my life and it doesn't get easier but always remember that he will never give us more than we can bear and you're always give us a way of escape and that is not suicide. Not saying you're thinking about suicide but suicide is not the way of Xscape

God does give us more than we can bear. Where this understanding came from is incorrect. He promises to be our strength when we are weak. He turns our sorrow into joy. He forgives our sin when the burden is too heavy. He fills our heart when it is empty. He is our everything and apart from Him we can do no good thing.

He does not give us more than we can bear. If he gave us more than we can bear then we wouldn't be having this conversation. We should have be taken in the plural sense across the board. He knows how much each one of us can bear or handle and by his grace we are never given more than we can handle with his help and Ours. And he always leaves a way of Escape. That does not mean we won't make mistakes or we won't feel like we're on our wit's end or that we won't even have a nervous breakdown. But he knows what we can handle. It just comes down to the way you want to interpret the scripture but it's right there in black and white and I think that across-the-board the majority of Christians even professors and Scholars teach it just as it appears.

I agree with everything you just said from scripture. What does that have to do with him never giving us more than we can handle and that through his grace he will always help us out of that situation or give us the strength

How is this understanding incorrect? I suppose it depends on the denomination of Christian or believer what their particular Church teaches. I'm just going by what the Bible teaches on this one. So how is this understanding incorrect In Your Eyes. Because when I read the scripture, and then also read explanations of the scripture - as if one needs it in this case, this is not at all a difficult scripture to understand and it's not one that people generally disagree on for the most part

How often have you tried changing the bad thought into a good thought and find that the bad thought keeps coming? Don't worry about letting the bad thoughts go so to speak. Just allow the bad thoughts to be there. I have tried to ignore bad profanity thoughts before and I ended up having them all day( except being at my job it lessened somewhat). When I thought to just allow the thoughts to be there and accept it, the bad thoughts decreased. If your goal is to get rid of the bad thoughts, well then forget about it because it is not going to happen.

There is no need to fear these thoughts. They are clearly not your thoughts. God doesn't condemn you because you are having annoying thoughts. Everyone has bad thoughts that pop into the mind. It is normal. When you keep on trying to replace the thoughts with good thoughts, your brain is flagging these bad thoughts as important because you are trying not to think them. If you perceive some thought to be a threat, your brain will flag it as important and you will keep having the thought.

all un-wanted thoughts/actions can be over-come for a Christian, with reciting correct scriptures and prayer -
also, we have to walk hand-in-hand with Christ and always do our part in order to receive
His gift of 'over-coming', His setting us free from our 'old-man'...it's quite a process...

Prayers for every part of you to know and understand:

Creation is not smarter than its Creator.
God knows all things (1John 3:20).

Prayers for you to enjoy:
the peace that passes understanding
the silence that can be yours through God

Blessings!
