hiya... i'd like to request prayer for anyone who lives in the path of the red river. I live in fargo/moorhead which is on the north dakota/minnesota border, divided by the north flowing red river. extra snow and sudden melting (along with rain this week) is causing some trouble. the river is expected to crest two feet above our dikes... and several feet above flood stage. being that our whole city is flat, when the river reaches this depth (expected anywhere from late thursday to early saturday) our entire city will be under water. the community has come together to sandbag and prepare as much as we can, but we really need some prayer! especially those at the banks of the river! please take a moment to pray for all of those desperately trying to save their homes! and give us strength to make it through! and pray that the rains hold off until the river comes down some! thanks sooo much! its greatly appreciated by everyone here i'm sure! :)

update: the river is now expected to crest on saturday at 41' (which is quite high). the city is 95% protected, however, if even one levee breaks it could be disasterous. a good friend of mine lost her house yesterday to the flood. :( she needs a lot of prayer. also, my employers may be forced to evacuate as a precaution because of where there house is located. it'd be amazing if u could pray for them as well (and me... because a disaster means I could lose my job...) thank you all soo much! fargo needs all the help it can get! <3

update: there's a new expected crest of 43'... it's supposed to crest tomorrow evening, I believe, and stay at 43' for 3-7 days. they've begun manditory evacuations for part of the city. this is a record high (previous record was just under a 40' crest). I don't scare easily, but I am definitely worried as the dikes are only built up to 43' in most places.

thank you everyone that is praying! I know flooding doesn't sound like the biggest of natural disasters but this one is bad!

god bless you all and please continue to remember fargo until the waters go down! thanks again!

update: the river crested once so far (a good 2 feet below expected! praise God!) but it has potential to crest again in the coming week. 2 colleges were forced to evacuate... and several homes in moorhead, mn. one of the levees did break, flooding a school and neighborhood (i understand it is under control now). unfortunately a blizzard-with 6" of snow-is expected for tomorrow night... followed by warmer temperatures and possible overwhelming melt-off. blah. one of my best friends lost her home and needs some extra prayer (her name is sarah, and her husband, lars)... thank u all so much for keeping us in your thoughts! :) again... its more than appreciated!
