    Default Nightmares and depression

    Every night I have nightmares of what could have been of my life. What should have been. I have dreams of me reliving my sinful past. I want it to stop. Even though I hate what I dream about, the mornings are so depressing for me that I stay in bed till 2 pm. I usually go to bed around 12:30-2 am so I’m getting almost 12 hours of sleep. I need to stop this awful lifestyle I know, but I am so ashamed of the life I lived. At night I feel better, but then the mornings are rough and I never want to get up. I just want to sleep forever. I want to die in the morning.

    Mercy sakes you’re only 24 – u gotta whole lot more living left to do!

    As far as the east is from the west thus far has He removed our sins from us.

    He’s forgiven u and given u a brand new clean slate ( every day! ) – and if He’s forgiven u then who are u not to forgive yourself ?

    It’s just the accuser who is unrelenting in pointing the finger at us day and night. U can utterly ignore it. To God these old sins or ours are erased from the record - as if they never happened.

    Hmh......make it about Christ not about you. I don't care what life you led in the past, that person is dead. Now what you do as a new creature well that's something to get excited about.

    Saul of Tarsus hated Christians. He made it his goal to capture, then bring Christians to public trial and execution. Saul was present when the first Christian martyr (named Stephen) was killed by an angry mob.

    Have you done anything 1/2 this bad? Have you crucified Christ?

    Saul did, but when Christ came into his life, he changed dramatically, going on to write 2/3rds of the New Testament.

    The ones who crucified Christ, he said of them, Father, forgive them , they no not what they do.

    If he forgave Saul and those who were crucifying him, what could you have possibly have done that was worse than these deeds?

    Maybe you should go to sleep earlier then set your alarm for like 5 or 6 a.m make your self get up and run or walk around the block. Believe it or not the fresh air does something good to ya.
    Wait why are you able to sleep so long ? Your bored you should go back to school or get a job

    You were an addict for a reason. Your sole "coping" mechanism is gone now that you are an addict. So you're Gabi g to deal with whatever issues guided you into being an addict, rather than hiding from them by getting high. Of course you're depressed.
    You need help confronting and dealing with what happened that made you am addict, so you can get past them.
    And you also need to be more aware and active that Christ has spiritually erased all of your past.
    Those two things in combination should go a long way in helping you.

    By the way, as one that has had depression for 25 years don't let the casual tone and offerings of advice mess you up. Depression, whether situational or permanent affects the way you are even Capable of performing. Often people that have never had it themselves, which sounds like the people answering here, are clueless about what depression actually is and how it affects you.
    While this isn't a free pass to do nothing, it is Required to recognize the difficulties you face, and the expectations you can have, while dealing with it. Failing to have a proper outlook and understanding of these things will only make it more difficult and depressing because you will be operating with wrong expectations.
    Sometimes some lower levels of depression can be fairly easy to overcome. Healthier diet, exercise and consistent, nighttime sleeping patterns have been known to rid of greatly minimize s one people of depression. Depends on the degree and reason you have it. Doing those things will aid you, either way, but with having depression those things are Much more difficult to do than most people realize.
    I encourage you to learn about depression and it's affects and symptoms. Thay has aided me in dealing with my depression more than anything else.

    I'm so sorry you are feeling this way. YOU are a Child of the Living God!

    Do you think He wants His beloved daughter to feel like that?

    NO! He doesn't. There IS one who does though. Your enemy and mine. He spends his time accusing the brethren, depressing them, making them feel shame, hating that Jesus loves them. AND, maybe most importantly, MAKING YOU INEFFECTIVE for the Kingdom. If he can depress you enough, that means you are not out there spreading the Gospel, helping the needy, and shining the light of Jesus out of your face to those around you.

    Dear Holy Father, we ask You to make Your Blessed Presence felt in an unmistakable way to Hmh. Please give her a sound mind, and renew her to the joy she has in You. Give her the strength each morning to seek You and Your Will for that day. Give her a Spirit of service to a hurting, needy world with all joy and purpose in Love. In Jesus sweet Name I pray.

    Everyone suffers a certain amount of depression from time to time but for some of us it becomes a chronic condition, leaving us constantly tormented. I know....I have suffered from depression and anxiety for many years. If you don't mind, I would like to offer some advice that may help you.
    If you haven't received an accurate diagnosis you should get one right away. There are many types (and causes) of depression so an accurate diagnosis is a great start to treatment.
    Counselling is also important along with peer group sessions. You might be surprised at how many other people are living exactly like you and are having to cope with the same problems.
    If you are prescribed meds, take them.......exactly as prescribed.
    Ugly is right about sleep and diet (as well as the rest he mentioned). Sleep was the biggest problem for me. At first I was prescribed powerful sleep meds (nightmares from PTSD). I am now able to sleep (most of the time) without any meds at all. And remember......"early to bed, early to rise".
    God really loves me and He really loves you too. Take time every day to meditate and reflect on all He has blessed you with through His wondrous love and mercy, and pray constantly for His divine guidance, as I will be praying for too.

    Just in case any of this is aimed at me I wanna make it clear depression is real I understand it I've been through it I'm wasn't trying to make light of it but regardless of what ur going through you gotta try to keep pushing what's the other other alternative give up and let depression win? I know it's hard to fight depression and sadly some people never overcome it but given this person age I think it's way to early to give up, so I'm just giving some suggestions that helped me. Lifestyle change thats all i was suggesting

    Having confessed your sinful past it is now time to let it go. The shed blood of Jesus dying on the cross is sufficient and you should not carry this guilt each day. In the eyes of God once you have confessed your sins you're as white as the driven snow. Pray that God gives you the strength and courage to get out of bed and face the challenges of each day. It's not good to spend 1/2 of each day in bed on a daily basis. I suffer from depression also and at times I feel like hiding under the covers also but know that once I get out of bed I start to feel more optimistic as God is always with me. I have said a prayer for God to deliver you from this dark cloud that is hovering over you. Don't worry about what your life could have been, just stay in prayer about what your life is now going to be. At the age of 24 you are too young to just simply give up on life. Pray that you wake up each day, get out of bed and tell God that it's good to be alive.

    If I had meant you alone I would have said so. I used a blanket statement because that's what I meant.
    And did I say anything about giving up? Or did I take the time to relay various helpful options and a push to try them and not give up?
    Your statement was very generalized and offered no explanation as to the validity of it. Rather generic. When I talk to people dealing with depression I give more specifics and try to explain things more clearly. Generally the generic sounding advice is bypassed by depressed people as being insincere and unhelpful. Taking the time to explain how and why reflects more sincerity and and provides more useful information. And has more benefit to the read.

    I used to have a reoccurring nightmare, and soon after I got saved, it came back, but this time I was equipped to deal with it: I awoke long enough to say Lord please take this awful thing away........he did and it never returned........that was 32 years ago, Praise His Holy name!!!

    I used to be depressed but the things causing it changed, and now I am free.

    Whom the Son sets free is free indeed!!!

    What has helped me battle grief has been pouring into God, family, and strangers.
    I cry to God, I laugh with friends, I love on strangers.
    Additionally, ask older believers to pray with you and ask them how they got through some of the hardest times.
    Keep reading the Word and ask God for wisdom.
    Trust that tomorrow is gone but that today is here and God can teach you, help you, love you-- where you are, as you are, and to wherever it is-- whomever it may be, whenever He so desires.

    The Lord is not limited in understanding.
    He knows the waking and sleeping and moments in between.
    And Jesus died for you, even though God foreknew you and the bad choices you'd make.
    Don't forget, He also knew you you'd write to this forum, for the purpose of seeking His Peace.

    Therefore, praise God!
    you ain't done yet.


    Prayer:
    Lord, I pray for your Word to penetrate the mind and the attacks that she feels, and even when she thinks she is fine.
    I pray that you build her up with Joy of the Lord and Faith and Faithfulness in the Blood of Christ.
    I pray that she remembers, "No weapon" shall prosper-- if You are for her.
    And yet even when the memories, the trials, the judgments, the heartaches face her--

    Romans 8:1 says "therefore there is NO condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus". I always recite this verse whenever I struggle with past guilt. We do not want to be controlled by our past (which we cannot change) and need to look into the future and pursue the dream that God has set before us. If you focus too much on the past and guilt, It is the enemy, NOT God, who is trying to control you and steal your joy. Also if you are suffering with always feeling sad, perhaps you should seek professional counseling to find out why you constantly feel this way.
