I have had a personal struggle for a long time. Feel a hypocrite. Finding it hard to keep turning back to God and to being faithful at my church. Feel some people in church have given up on me. Feel isolated. Feel like never going to be different. Been a Christian a very long time but have also had this personal struggle also for a long time. Appreciate your prayers.

I'm terribly sorry you are feeling this way.

The enemy works hard to make us ineffective at bringing others to Christ by attacking us. We also have to deal with our dead flesh trying to come back, and the world at large messing us up.

A boat sinks. 100 people go overboard. 3 days later a rescue boat arrives and sees 99 face down not moving. ONE is flapping his arms, calling out, and STRUGGLING to stay afloat.

Who is alive?

Before you came to the Lord, how good were you at being good? Is is safe to assume you stunk at it as well as the rest of us?

What changed when you became born again? The Lord?

I certainly hope so!

So he's the one who changed you into someone who can do good, right? Then why do you keep picking your struggle back up and trying to work with that? It stinks! It still stinks! (Experience talking here. lol)

You know you can't do it. You know the Lord can do it. So how about calling on him for strength to do it? He's our strength. We are not our strength. Let your "personal" struggle, become his struggle. You will learn the difference between personal and him. Bonus points: Since it is him after that, nothing hypocritical about it anymore.

Laying down our struggles at his feet tends to look like playing with a yoyo for a while. We put it down there, then pick it up again, then put it down. But the more often we put it down, the more reminders we have of remembering why it works better at his feet rather than in our hands, so, slowly it becomes all him, and less us.

I’m sorry to hear that, friend. I so appreciate your willingness to share your struggle with us. Please don’t be hard on yourself. We all commit mistakes, and as Christians, we need to help and encourage each other in our struggles. Have you tried talking to your pastor about this? I just said a prayer for you, asking the Lord to draw you closer to Himself and to guide you in His ways. Despite any difficulty you face, remember He loves you. There is no sin He cannot forgive, no depths from which He cannot save, and no end to the resources of His amazing grace. Hope everything goes well with you. Stay strong in Him. Blessings!
