Hello, I am 16 years old and I am addicted to pornography and masturbation. I have been struggling with this since I was around 13 years old. Before then, I always searched up triggering content on Youtube. I really struggle with this addiction. I just want to put it in the hands of the LORD and let him take control. But, I keep falling back down to square one. I go a week without watching anything triggering, then the urge pops up and I just fail. I always pray for forgiveness afterward, but I just want to never do it again. This addiction is ruining me. Every day after I masturbate, something bad happens. My grades get worse, I do bad on a test, or some bad incident happens at home or school. Once I go back into this destructive cycle, it takes like a week to get back on track.

I absolutely hate what I do, but I just keep doing it. That's my problem.

I desperately need prayers and support. I have prayed to the LORD myself, but it would be good to know that others are supporting me in this struggle.

I struggled for years until one day God said, “If you don’t want to do it, then don’t do it!” The more you obstain from something addictive, the less power it has. It has to do with dopamine release and serotonin but for the most part, just don’t indulge. This body is a vehicle, it’s not in control, you are. When you are riding a bike and heading towards a busy intersection, the bike wants to keep coasting straight. Since you know it would be dangerous to allow the bike to do what it wants, you intervene. Same thing. When your body wants a dose of those happy chemicals, hit the brakes. Steer clear and find something else to do.

Hello JesusistheRock2,

Confession is the first step! Awesome, you took your first step! The Lord hears the cry of your heart and will help you. :)

I recommend an excellent book - "Every Man's Battle" by Stephen Arterburn and Fred Stoeker.

What you're going through is VERY COMMON - you are VERY NORMAL. Please read the book. :)

Well before I pray for you here are some suggestions to help...
1.keep yourself busy like with chores, being around friends,go to church, watch kid programming, read the bible
2.Try not to think about though if you think about it tell yourself things like"I can't do that",or "that is wrong" "that's disgusting" whatever can get you to think "I don't like porn"
3.Try for a while to keep away from nudity related stuff like certain films or anime because the less you think about nudity or any sexual stuff the less you'll want to watch it
4.Try socialize with others like you are now it really helps not only for a great distraction but also for moral support
these are just some ways to get porn out of your head but all in all you have to "want it out" and "be vigilant" but not frantic stay calm because "it takes time" especially depending on how much of it you have "taken in".
You don't have to use my suggestions but be certain you "can overcome this"! anyways now for prayer...
Father God please help"Jesus is the rock 2" to be rid of this man made wile and mind set that haunts him, reteach him through your holy spirit and even if he backslides have compassion upon him as he goes through this bout with "sorrow" I myself know it is very "troublesome" and "alluring" in Jesus's holy name I humbly pray,AMEN.

My best advice is to get busy.

You'll be far less likely to fall to something like this if you're leading an active life and getting cheap thrills via another source.

Hey! I am glad you are reaching out for help. I can recall a time, when I was bound by an addiction. It consumed me and all my thoughts. It was a continuing cycle of the addiction and then asking for forgiveness. I had to give everything over to God. I stayed in prayer with Him. I also found that keeping myself out of certain situations, that would cause me to stumble, helped out a lot. I will be praying for you and are supporting you all the way! Hope to hear from you soon!

Wow. Well said. I noticed when I view porn, I have to block out all the reasons I know I shouldn't do it. Almost as if my body is in control and not the holy spirit. I have been struggling.

I'm 32 and I have been struggling to fight this. I want to walk with Jesus. When I view porn, it is a form of doubt in God's existence.

I agree. I have been trying to eliminate leisure time and focus on God's word. Listening to sermons. Really digging deep into why I run to porn after a while.

God give them strength to resist and run from anything that provokes them to sin. Help them overcome and deny their flesh for the things of the spirit. Help them to be Holy and to live a Holy life.
