Hello, everyone!
My aunt came to visit my mother and grandmother recently. She's elderly, and it may be the last time they all sit adound the table together.
Today they were talking about a distant cousin's son. He had a garage collapse on him as a young boy and suffered damage to his frontal lobe. He went from being a straight A student to one who struggles keeping his place on a page while he reads. Prone to fits of frustration, and sentenced to therapy for the rest of his life, he will never be "the same", says my family.
He's in his teens now, and everyone supports him. But, sometimes the "support" people give carries a negative tinge which is worse than the event which caused need for support. I remember being 6 when my parents split, and people were concerned how it might impact me. I remember when, out of good faith, well meaning people designated me a problem child. I can relate to Tyler in this respect and know the struggle he'll face merely for this stigma alone.
Please join me in prayer for Tyler, that he doesn't need to be "the same" again, that his family and friends continue to recognize how much talent and skill he has retained and continues to develop, that he's growing in a still young healthy body with boundless potential, and lastly that no person stands in the way of where God can take him.
Amen.
