Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I have been reading through several posts and am so moved by the Spirit evident in the writings of members. I have a prayer request which weighs so heavily on my heart.
I have been married just over 3 months, and in the beginning my husband was on the right path with God, and was a wonderful, sincere, caring individual. He has had many problems with a serious drug addiction, but was clean when we first met, and stayed that way for awhile, but has lapsed again in the past 2 months.
The addiction took a toll on our new marriage, however since I had always put this marriage in front of the Lord, I prayed daily, and did what I could to encourage him as his wife, and also encourage him to seek professional help. The drugs completely altered his personality. He went from a loving devoted husband to a liar, manipulator, thief, deceiver, and ultimately, a cheat.
About a month ago I noticed he was pulling away from me emotionally, and try as I might he continued to shut down toward me and our marriage. He was, and I believe, is still currently using at this time. Last week he finally told me he had been in contact with an ex girlfriend every day for the past month or so, and things she was saying was confusing his head. She was apparently upset when she heard we got married, and did everything she could to win him back. They had between them a rather volatile on-again off-again casual relationship for the better part of 8 years which involved alot of drug use. She too, has/had the same battle with drugs. Last week he was out late one night and sent me a text that he had left a letter for me. The letter stated that he now believed the ex was the love of his life and he wanted to see if his heart was correct and could no longer commit himself to me. He has since moved most of his things out, and left me broken. It is my understanding that he is living with the ex and she now has him convinced that a cult she is involved with is the right path for him.
My prayer is for the restoration of my marriage, that my husband will get clean, turn from his evil ways and turn his life back to God, and return to me, repentant for his wrongdoing. I pray for the Holy Spirit to convict his heart of his sins, and that God will remind him of the love we have. He had always believed I was brought into his life as a Gift from God until this ex started filling his mind with lies.
My prayer is that his heart will turn back to his wife, and away from this woman who has tempted him away from his marriage, and that as each day goes by, his heart will miss more and more the special, pure, gentle love we shared. I have put my marriage in front of God from day 1, and know that there is serious spiritual warfare going on against me and my husband at this time. It seemed the more I clung to God, the worse he got before he left. The devil has a grip on him at this time, of this I am sure, having just found out about something he may have stolen and sold. I ask for God to surround us and our marriage with his angels; and for the demons involved in this attack to be bound.
I know what we ask for in Jesus name will be granted. I also ask for strength and discernment at this time to make the right decisions in accordance with God's will. I am really struggling with this, as there is so much emotion involved, and overwhelming feelings of rejection, unworthiness and abandonment. In addition, when he took off, he left me with thousands of dollars of bills. His treatment of me as he was leaving and since then has been so cold, and his actions give clear indication that he is making decisions from a very unhealthy place.
