Hi guys, after some time of drifting further and further from the Lord I have reflected on my life and hate it. I will use an analogy I heard in church... A kid goes to a fairground, he's looking around all excited and just wants to do everything at once. He hears the sounds, the laughter, the music. He sees the smiles, the flashing lights, the bright eyes of these happy people. He smells the candy, the hotdogs. In his excitement he lets go of his daddy's hand. For a while he is ok on his own, he is too excited to even notice that he is not next to his dad anymore, he drifts further away. Then after some time he looks around and it doesn't look exciting anymore, it looks scary, he realises that he isn't having fun without his daddy. That is how i feel. I have drifted and 'enjoyed' what the world has to offer and it's worthless, I don't want those things anymore.

Now I have a life set up in an environment I don't want to be a part of, but I'm not sure if I can maintain my friendships with some of my friends now that I'm changing my behaviour. Please pray for guidance for me. Please pray that the Lord will give me strength on my journey back to Him. Please pray that I do not give in and once again succumb to Earthly pleasures.

Prayers and words of encouragement will be appreciated.

Thank you

NOw that the Lord thinks you are extraordinary...and no matter what happens, it is better to being holding your father's hand than any temporal earthly pleasure...

I always like telling girls this verse from Psalm 45

"Listen, O Daughter, consider and give ear:
forget your people and your [earthly] father's house;
the King is ENTHRALLED by your beauty:
honor Him, for HE is your Lord..."

Forget about guys and everything else...it is the Lord who feeds you and clothes you every day; He love you more than you know to the cross...

SO forget about appeareances and focus on the cross...

God will perfect you and make you an amazing reflection of His Son even in the dark places you are now in...
ANd even if people dislike you (which is bound to come the Word says), know that they scorned Jesus first and He said they will do likewise to my disciples...so do not loose heart when you face persecutions...even from people you believe to be Christians...sometimes their rebukes or actually meant to help you attain more closely to the Lord...

And make that bold statement...that "come earthly hell or highwater, Lord I am yours..."

My prayers are with you
God bless you now and always
tony

This is exactly what I went through.

Luke 15: 11-32

11Jesus also told them another story:

Once a man had two sons. 12The younger son said to his father, "Give me my share of the property." So the father divided his property between his two sons. ;)
13Not long after that, the younger son packed up everything he owned and left for a foreign country, where he wasted all his money in wild living. 14He had spent everything, when a bad famine spread through that whole land. Soon he had nothing to eat.
15He went to work for a man in that country, and the man sent him out to take care of his pigs. :eek:16He would have been glad to eat what the pigs were eating, but no one gave him a thing. :confused:17Finally, he came to his senses and said,"My father's workers have plenty to eat, and here I am, starving to death! 18I will go to my father and say to him, `Father, I have sinned against God in heaven and against you. 19I am no longer good enough to be called your son. Treat me like one of your workers.' " :(
20The younger son got up and started back to his father. But when he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt sorry for him. He ran to his son and hugged and kissed him.
21The son said, "Father, I have sinned against God in heaven and against you. I am no longer good enough to be called your son."
22But his father said to the servants, "Hurry and bring the best clothes and put them on him. Give him a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet. 23Get the best calf and prepare it, so we can eat and celebrate. 24This son of mine was dead, but has now come back tolife. He was lost and has now been found." And they began to celebrate. 25The older son had been out in the field. But when he came near the house, he heard the music and dancing. 26So he called one of the servants over and asked, "What's going on here?"
27The servant answered, "Your brother has come home safe and sound, and your father ordered us to kill the best calf." 28The older brother got so angry that he would not even go into the house.
His father came out and begged him to go in. 29But he said to his father, "For years I have worked for you like a slave and have always obeyed you. But you have never even given me a little goat, so that I could give a dinner for my friends. 30This other son of yours wasted your money on prostitutes. And now that he has come home, you ordered the best calf to be killed for a feast." 31His father replied, "My son, you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32But we should be glad and celebrate! Your brother was dead, but he is now alive. He was lost and has now been found.":)

I'm glad that you decided to make a change in you life, and I'll sure enough be praying for you. I hope that you receive the strength you need.

- And he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness."
2 Corinthians 12:9

- Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
