I haven't been around too much in the last year, but I'm not sure where else to turn right now. I'm a newlywed, and my husband and I have our own delivery business and we also DJ for events (weddings/parties/sports events). We started our business in August, and November was the first month we were able to cover our bills. Next month, however, we'll be back in the boat of having no money again (this month has been slow work-wise). We commonly work 20 hours a day going from one job straight to the other. We are struggling to make ends meet and cannot even hope to save on an average month.
Right now, we are so frustrated with both of our jobs as we have been getting lots of complaints. We feel we do a good job, but honesty, integrity, and work ethic don't seem to be important. We have gotten complaints about our attire (we wear polo shirts and jeans for deliveries and dress up as appropriate for the DJ gigs), complaints that we seem "grumpy" (try being rerouted to a second delivery halfway through your first...we have to then deal with the first customer who is VERY unhappy), and generally people take out their annoyances on us (the delivery driver) rather than the shipping company. We only have control over what happens when the package is on our truck. We cannot do anything about the fact that the shipping company held the package in their warehouse for 3 days past the requested delivery date.
I'll admit that we are not always bubbly upbeat people. We are tired and cranky, and frankly we spend more time fighting about money than anything else. There were certain promises made to us when we first bought our truck, and those have not been fulfilled. We haven't even made a payment to our (very understanding!) investors. Most of the time, we are borrowing money against what we've earned to put fuel in the truck. It's just not what I imagined (and was told!) it would be. I'm so frustrated and overwhelmed.
At the moment, we are packing and preparing to move because my parents just bought a new house. We are currently staying with them as we cannot afford our own place. As if I didn't have enough to do what with deliveries and DJing, I'm trying to sort and pack and deal with annoyed parents and hubby. Oy.
My prayer request is just for a clear path. We've been talking about moving halfway across the country to where my hubby has property/houses, but even then, we need to sell a couple vehicles, get rid of some stuff, and find money for gas. I'm so overwhelmed. I don't know what to do, and I don't know who to talk to. Thanks in advance.
