I need to request prayer, but I have to remain vague for HIPPA reasons.
There was a murder in my town Sunday evening done by a man with mental illness. As I work in the field, it has brought a number of different levels to light.
First, a prayer for the victim and his family.
A prayer for the accused and his family that he may receive proper treatment to stabilize his illness.
For my coworkers and myself to give strength during this very trying time when you wonder what more you could have done to prevent such a tragedy, even though it's nothing that you could have forseen.
For the town as this is the fourth murder in one year for a town that normally sees about one per decade.
Last, but certainly not least, for those who learn of this and of the circumstances surrounding the case that a further stigma for mental illness is not created and instead that more openness and more understanding of the community's role in the healing of mental illness in individuals can become the focus and result of this tragedy.
Thank you all for keeping us all in your prayers!
