O
Well, the first one failed. I cancelled it on Halloween... how fitting, eh? So the second one will begin on Tuesday but today, I found out that in the past, youth groups and youth leaders had some "history." As a result, many of the young adults even left the church. I don't mind if the regulars don't show up. I invited the regulars first - I didn't open it up to the entire congregation but only a couple people responded at the last minute. Everyone else simply ignored my invitation. So, I opened up the invitation to the entire church for all people to hear for two Sundays in a row. The first meet is on Tuesday and it would be great if someone could pray that God will move hearts and bring some people to the first meet. I would happy even if only one or two new people to the church show up. It would be fantastic!
I myself can also use some prayers. To be honest, I felt a little ticked and though I probably shouldn't, I can't help but parallel this to the parable of the king inviting guests to his feast. The king invited all his subjects - his people to a grand feast at his palace. When the day of the feast came, the guests couldn't come. They made excuses and the king became furious. He told his servants to go out and invite all the poor, needy, and destitute to his feast and to bar those who he had originally invited from attending. I know I shouldn't be comparing things like this but I can't help it - those people didn't even grace me with a "no thank-you" email which is why I opened the invitation to the entire congregation.
Anyway, could use the prayers. I re-invited the regulars all the same because it's probably the right thing to do.
