Many of you laugh when I bring this up. But this is no laughing matter. Due to the weather, the city of Atlanta along with many more are gridlocked in terms of traffic and can't even move. People in Cobb County, Georgia have children still stuck on buses because the buses are running out of fuel and can't move any further. These children are YOUNG children. People are stuck in traffic because they can't even move. You ask if Georgia has snow plows. It depends on where you are. However, most cities don't have that many because it never snows here like this except once every five years so it doesn't really make a point to invest in them. As I said, please be with the people who live down here and much of the south.

The South is definitely in my prayers. We have been in a deep freeze here in North Carolina, and now it is snowing again.
I feel so sorry for those kids on the buses.

Our Lord God, we know that you have full control over the weather patterns, that you can make the wind rise and that you can make it return to the storehouses of heaven, you make the thunder roll and the rain fall, in you and through you EVERYTHING has come into existence. I would like to say a prayer for the South especially Cobb County and Georgia where children are stuck in buses in extremely bad weather. Not only is it frightful but it's dangerous Lord, I pray for your hand of protection on them. God as much as we'd rather stop what's happening with the weather, we also know that we can only pray that your Will be true. Please protect our young ones, those without homes who live in shelters, children who can't get to school, motorists who have to get to work. Be with them all. Amen

South Carolina here, I came home to a flooded condo. Called the plumber and restoration people. They tore down my walls, jack hammered the floors trying to find the leaking pipe... It's a mess lol

Hi Tashmeyers,

It could have been avoided. The problem here in America is too many people depend on their government to advise them, instead of investigating the matter themselves. The people of Atlanta should have listened to the weather channel or their meterologist for info because it did advise in time as to what was coming their way.

i heard on the news that one woman had to deliver her daughter on the side of the road. :(

i have family in the suburbs of Charlotte. i was talking to my sister yesterday, and though she grew up in NY and lived in PA for 20+ years, she wouldn't go out in their "bad weather". (they got none of the ice y'all got in GA, just 2" of snow)

but the folks who've never lived up north tend to be not the best drivers
in winter weather. (it's just lack of forced practice :) )
and, according to my sis, the local municipalities just aren't aware of how to properly care for the roads. (also lack of practical experience)

all to say it is quite serious, and i am (and have been) praying for you all. ♥

ps--even here in the mountains of NYS where we get opportunities to drive in bad weather in abundance, we don't go out on icy roads if we can help it!! i feel for you.

Biscuit, I don't know where you are from. But down here, this problem is not so easily avoidable. It is easier said than done. Most of the people stranded were children coming home from schools or people coming home from work. It has nothing to do with not preparing properly. The issue lies in not being ABLE to prepare because we don't have the equipment to prepare properly. None of us down here rely on the government. It's the south. We also don't rely on meteorologists all the time because the times they have told people to prepare, it was unnecessary to prepare because there was no ice or anything on the roads to be prepared for. A lot of it was bad timing in this case. It had nothing to do with preparedness skills.
