Our soul health is even more important that our bodily health; we may know spiritual health and cleansing of our our sins if we exercise saving faith in the Lord Jesus, Who died at the Cross for sinners; the well known verse in John chapter 3 says: 'whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life' (John 3.16).
It is true also as you maybe imply that a temperate lifestyle is condusive to good health. Those who love and trust the Lord Jesus are also often accustomed to asking that the Lord might strengthen them and preserve them. God has in the past used miracles to heal; today He usually uses doctors and medicine to help the healing process.

You are loved anyway by God and this reception of this love from God is real, whether sick or not. I have been for over a year now and am healing some areas healed. More importantly through it all I am and have sought what can i learn from this. And God has never said I am punishing you for your sins (people do that well enough). God am perfecting us to be see how to walk away from harming others and yourself, by his love, which being sick does not appear that way for now. God sees everyone's future we do not, and we all need someone to trust don't we?
The hardest thing to trust is why me Lord? Read Job and maybe be put at a little ease in the midst of your adversity.
Now the first stage to actually begin to heal is first accepting what is, whether you like it or not. I found healing can not begin without accepting what is, whether I like it or not.
Praying this helps. for I know Father is right there at your side, living in you and desires to live and love through you. No more focused on not being right with God

Reconciled is made right with God by Son, Sister please God is trying to show you this, and it hurts God to see you going through this, as I know it hurt God for me to go through what i went through losing parts, yet looking back now it was for my best interest, even though it hurt much and still does today, if I focus on the loss, rather than the life he came to give in
Spirit and truth, considering my old flesh dead with Christ back at the cross of daily to be alive daily in spiritual love to all
So trust God with your contite heart now, right now and receive the new heart he came to give to you, and thus love all in truth without being selfish to what you want.

Healing is coming starting with you changing your thoughts of worry to thank you to God for this to come to trusting God, by what is happening, God does know, and has all the answers, we see when we give give up to God as King Nebecenezzar did, chewing the cud of the ground for many years seein he caused his own tragedies here in this life and repented. Owned up to it, Not blaming anoyne else and began the trust of God, to do whatever God decided was fit for him.

God does NOT punish this on this earth for our sins. That is for Judgement Day! But that means you really need to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, and repent of your sins.
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
Sometimes we get sick, because we live in a fallen world. In other words, the Fall in the Garden of Eden has been passed down and multiplied. But the Bible tells us God will use everything for good.
"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,for those who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
God will also use suffering to change us and make us more mature and closer to Christ.
"Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, [SUP]4 [/SUP]and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, [SUP]5 [/SUP]and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." Romans 5:3-5
I will pray that you will find out what is wrong with you, first. Sometimes knowing helps you a lot in finding treatment. I also pray that you will feel better soon, and that God will show you many things through this time of sickness!

May be a silly question, but since you mentioned neurologists I thought Id just mention this.
Do you drink alot of diet soda or eat alot of foods with artificial surgars?
There are a select few who suffer grave neuro illness when they do.
If it is a foolish question then just ignore.

Heather - Sister I speak to you now because I can totally relate, probably more than you would think is possible. Through sin comes death, its part of the grand design. Through sin there is consequence, a consequence that could have such adverse effects on our lives and relationships with others.
What I can say with confidence, is that God can and will not stop working on you until HIS work is complete. And if you can get to that point - where EVERY choice you make, every thought process becomes completely reliant on HOW this will affect your relationship with the Holy God we serve, then and then only can you be victorious over your sinful fleshly nature and desires. But God does not stop loving us for one moment because we are weak in flesh. Remember Paul said this - for explanatory purposes I will give you a translation for KJV and NIV (better understanding)
Romans 7:15
For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. (KJV)
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. (NIV)
You should read the rest of that... but he ends in Verse 24 - 25 with this...
24O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Therefore, it is important to let our minds be renewed all the time, do not give thought to sin, if sin tries to enter your mind, you need to find something else to occupy your thoughts. Read the bible or pray.
As for your illness - unless its directly consequence of sin i.e. Smoking 100 cigarettes a day and now suffering with lung cancer, or doing drugs and now having contracted HIV or something, it is not your sin that brought about your sickness (this is my opinion only)
But it is then a simple case of ill health, and you should then pray and have Faith that God is capable of healing you.
Either way even for the consequence of sin, or basic illness - God is merciful and he CAN heal you.
