One of my very closest friends, Katie, just told me she found out her mother has stage 3 breast cancer. She's an emotional wreck, understandably so. This girl is probably one of the sweetest people you would ever meet, super humble and gentle. She was raised in Church, did missions, but her church was very corrupt and the "legalism" and constant harsh judgment she experienced there pushed her away from God altogether. She has a vague belief in a deity, just not the Bible. I met her brother who is the equivalent of a Westboro Baptist Church member (not even exaggerating) and he also has pushed most of the family away from Christianity with his constant remarks of nothing but hate.
Her mother is not a Christian, so please pray earnestly for her mother's healing and also her salvation (which we know is even more important than physical healing). Please also pray that Christians in her life will show her the love and compassion that so many have failed to show her in the past.
I want to be there for my friend during this time and don't want to be shoving my beliefs down her throat. It's the last thing she needs right now and yet God is so vitally important during this time. So please pray that God will help me know how I can best show her His love during this time and at the same time be a light directing her to Him.
