Thanks Blain and crossnote! Funny but so true! If you wish to have your wits tested to really see where you are at personal?? THEN!!!! And only then is the Bible Study Room your place to venture into! LOL It is not place for a nervious person,or an insecure person to travel to,it does have mercy and love in it,but they do not always abide here either.

And if you are looking for a yes person in your life,do not look here!! LOL This is one of the finest testing grounds for personal growth! This room will not only tell you where you are in Christ personal, but show you as well! Whether you wish to see this or not!

As my brothers mentioned there are subjects here that will wear you out! And when this happens, when Holy spirit inside you begins to rumble, you know your flesh is not far off from saying something, that will be unkind, that is when another room for you should be taken!( mark 4:24)

There are some very fine debates, but once you have made the point you are looking for others to hear, and stones get fired at you,no need to throw any back.Just remember two scriptures!! Both will again give you great peace in both your mindset, and flesh as a whole lol!!( matt 7:6 and matt13:14-17!!)

Then think only about phil 4:8 hehe and if you cannot with all of the firing going on,( matt 11:12)then be shrewd (matt 10:16) and slip away for a while. May this help us all to keep our peace through our Christ Jesus!!
I agree the bible discussion forum is a place where your heart and faith is tested, I can't tell you how many times I felt my flesh wanting to post something. There were times where I simply became angry at what the other person said others I knew I was right but also knew even if I replied it would only add to the fire so I have to stop myself and say to myself that if I cannot respond in love then there is no need to even reply.
I admit I walked away from many discussions, I didn't want to because the anger was boiling inside me but I knew it was the right thing to do. The bible discussion forum is an interesting place because you can really see what is in peoples hearts there, if you really want to see what the majority of the church is like then the bible discussion forum is the place to go.
wasn't there a saying about sharpening your blade with another or something?

There are a lot of hateful and hurtful spirits on the bible discussion forum. I think its a forum that should be deleted. Its being misused and the amount of judgment and hate in the hearts of some people who want to be right is devastating to the mission of Christ.
Currently, it is a forum where people are free to condescendingly hurt one another.
What good fruits are currently coming from the bible discussion forum. Link me to one loving thread on there without the hurt, and if you cannot, consider what allowing it may be doing to unsuspecting members who sign up...
Wau, this thread is like a sauna compared to the Bible discussion forum where I had some huge physical and mental workouts with a lot of sweat running, lots of hard punches, kicks and knock outs. When I joined up, I thought it was going to be an easy ride as the Bible discussion was my first entry point. What a shocker. I did ask all the wrong questions as there were many that did trouble me, as I needed to get some clarification in my own mind. My problem was however that I have been in so many different churches and all of their teachings differed from each other and I tried to find out for myself what is right and what is wrong. As some teachings are more than a thousand years old and some pretty new with many in between, with around 26,000 different churches based on the bible, it is no wonder that there will be many different opinions as each writer, is quoting either his/her own understanding/discovery or that of his/her pastor/minister. People on this site are here because there is the desire to learn. Some people however, do have a problem in communicating. Everybody's personalities differ and some have tact and others not. I was blasted out of the ground many times but I have tried to keep cool at all times. This was an experience for me personally to become rich in knowledge and in the art of communication and debating. Jesus was also confronted many times with very difficult questions from very aggressive people, but He remained cool and explained it very calmly so that people could understand. We must realize that those people were not educated and could not read or write. It was the minimum that could do it. Today, we have many different translations of the bible, the internet and many other educational reference sites which makes it more vibrant and challenging with many more educated people on-line. In my personal studies I have found some things that I could share with others whilst I also had some questions on other subjects. As a believer I believe that we need to share the light that we have received with others and not to hide it under a drum as that also links up with the parable that Jesus told the people about the man who gave different talents to his servants to see how they perform with what they received. Must the weak brother be destroyed by our knowledge that we are not sharing as per 1 Cor 8:11? We all are part of Christ's body and we are all not just feet or hands or whatever. If we all share our true knowledge what we have discovered or learnt, we could all become stronger in the whole process and become a strong legion in Jesus Christ. Satan is also loose on this site as he does not want people to learn the truth and he is really performing his utmost, especially on the bible discussion forum. He does not worry about the people who has some mediocre luke-warm attitude towards being a Christian, but he is definitely gunning for the believers. That is why we all need to be on the site to learn. You do not have to participate in the discussion if you do not have the knowledge but if you do have some knowledge, you need to participate so that others can learn from you. Satan would be excited if the bible discussion forum is closed down. Is that what you really want? I am here to learn as I need to know the truth and I will only gain that by debating or following a debating that I have no knowledge on. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone, as discussions like this do not take place at home or in a church because of the lack of knowledge. That is why you will also find that in normal day to day discussions at work or home, religion is very rarely discussed. I hope that this discussion will help you on your path forward.

The reason I said that Satan celebrates the bible discussion forum is because of the severe lack of love there. What more does God teach besides love towards Him and love for one another. How important is loving one another? 'By this people will know you are my disciples'. You are free to believe what you want. I think its spiritually dangerous to allow the heated and hurtful debates and potentially quite hazardous to the physical health of people. Wisdom from above is always gentle and full of mercy.

I agree totally, MH.. The bible forum is definitely the devil's playground..sad but true. Such a lack of love and understanding in there, but a terrible over-abundance of judgments, name-calling and finger-pointing. I agree it should be deleted, but they wont ever close it because it's one of the biggest attractions to the site..just sayin'.. :/

If you can't handle attacks don't go in there? How can that be a guideline to discussing the Holy Bible with fellow believers? Who will EVER want to come to learn about Jesus with that guideline? You need much stricter moderation but at this point it would be better to delete it and reopen it fresh and not tolerate anything hurtful. 3 strike rule than you're banned. Christ is a symbol of unconditional love - those who cannot discuss in love and mercy with one another are clearly not fit or ready to participate in such a forum.

umm just a quick note here, don't you think it might make the mods upset with ppl telling them how to do their jobs?

I mean think about it, the bible discussion forum is a very popular one which means about every 10 minutes at least a new post is made and then another and another. to actually keep up with all those posts and keeping it under strict moderating like everyone here is wanting would take more mods than we actually have.

Do you how how hard and tiring it would be to constantly peeking and watching every post and every thread made their? they don't make enough coffee for that. Also the forum itself is not the issue its the ppl, take a way the bible discussion forum and they will turn another like say the singles or the misc into the next bible discussion forum and then we have the same issue.

Maybe reporting when someone is being persistently nasty would solve that problem?

Even then sometimes that doesn't work..I've had to report some ppl 3 or 4 times before any action was finally taken. I don't think they have nearly enough moderators here.

I think having a debate area is perfectly fine.

It doesn't need to be deleted.

We have people of all different maturity levels, along with a lot of people who aren't Christians at all. What goes on is to be expected. It's not always good, but it's nothing to be surprised about.

Besides... it's best to keep them all in one place, lol.

Also...

it's a place where the blood vessels pop out on my forehead,
and I get to practice patience.

People treat the Bible Discussion Forum like it's the pits of Hell itself. There are many parts that are like that, but there's some good in there, Mr. Frodo. Some good worth fighting for.

I was accused once of being a demon there so I guess it could be called the pits of hell...lol Last time I checked I am just a human that visited the Bible Discussion Forum where the accusation was lodged.....still human forgiven by God....Leaning on Jesus for salvation.

I tend to avoid threads with pages in the double digits, that helps.

This isn't a concern without validity, but I understand the moderators unwillingness to do anything.
I would like to formally request a deletion of my account.
For me, it is not worth the risk. And I would rather go somewhere where enduring insults and attacks isn't the normal way of doing things while discussing the bible with other believers. You have driven me away from worshipping and discussing Christ here because it doesn't feel safe, and it is not safe. There are some very sensitive people here and you should be working to protect the sheep of Christ. As of now, you are like a hired hand. What do you care if the sheep get abused? Its a situation out of control... Let's wait for it to get worse? Does that sound wise? Sounds like inaction, indifference or helplessness. Which is it?
May the responsibility of this lay in the hands of those able to do something about it and are not.
Its not about how many posts, its about the individual posters, you said it yourself. So you guys can keep on top of it. It just requires action. I am sad that you are more offended at my suggestion than also concerned. It is a truly sad day for the pride of those who come here. When you engage in the debates there you are subjecting yourself to abuse. You aren't developing patience by spending time with abusive people. You are developing pride, and subjecting yourself to unnecessary suffering.
I am now confirming that this is a post requesting full deletion of my account.
