I've lost two friends and a cousin in the past four weeks, and two of my friends have lost loved ones in the same time period. It's made me very aware of how many people are mourning both fresh and old losses of loved ones and friends, and I was wondering if there could be (if there isn't already somewhere) a forum that functions as a kind of support group where people can share, and offer support and comfort and prayers.

That's a great idea, IMO. There is a prayer chat room where you can go, though. :)

Your best shot is to create your own group. For a forum to be considered there has to be evidence it would be active enough to warrant it. You can start one here... http://christianchat.com/group.php

You can then add a link to your signature, if you want, so others can learn about it.

I thought that was what Church was for. Electronic friends aren't quite the same.

The greatest power in this world is not the colbalt bomb it is rather what we speak each day. Words even from unknown subjects can confirm things inside us,and mold ones feeling and emotion,to become peaceful through our belief in Jesus Christ. While it is very true most people have many people that can comfort, the only lasting comfort comes from a man who listens far more then he speaks, who places his hand upon us when we grieve, who lifts us up as we praise his wonderful name through our sorrow, who grants us lasting comfort through good times as well as the very tough times.( 2 cor 1:3-7)Who says to all of us Do not let your heart be troubled;believe in God,believe also in me.( john 14:1)

Who says peace i leave with you; my peace I give to you;not as the world gives do I give you.DO NOT let you heart be troubled no let it be fearful!( john 14:27) These are not just words written, they are indeed a lasting promise for all who believe, and indeed our only work to our Blessed Jesus is to believe!( john 6:28-29) My mom passed away on Sept 9th of this year, and Christmas which has been loved by my brother and Mom and I,now have a loss this Christmas, mom is no longer among us,and we are deeply sad because of all the times and all of the seasons this one meant the most to my mom. But rather then our hearts becoming so sad at what my brother and I do not have this season,we rejoice in all of the wonderful Christmas times we all spent for some 70 years!( rev 14:13) for there deeds follow with them! And they follow in us to!

We have very little but we give all we have. This was mom, this follows in my brother and I,because Jesus was seen in my mom through her love, her kindness to perfect strangers, her gentle voice which reached out to others in need. Her contentment in what she always had, rather then what she really wanted.

It was enough for her just to have us with her.And that is a great gift!So we reflect upon a peace which surpasses all understanding, keeping both our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus!

We consider the joy,and laughter, and smiles that light up our room and our hearts, because even since mom is no longer among us,her words ring loud and clear this season,we have very little, but we give all we have. And we brothers and sisters can do this, because Jesus FIRST!!!! LOVED US!!!( 1 john 4:19)( Jesus gave all he had for us!) ( phil 4:7-9)verse 9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you! A Merry Christmas to you all!!

The first words i ever heard after becoming a believer,i will never forget! A little old man came up to me, and said thus saith the Lord unto you this day." God sends who he knows, and he always knows who he sends!" May his words comfort us all,and cause us to remember our loved ones who are not with us in body, but sure always with us in spirit! Even as our Jesus always is! Blessing all!

God Bless you and yours, Brighthouse. What a lovely tribute to your Mom this is. What a legacy she left behind in you and your family. I know she must be smiling in His Presence and so is He knowing how you all felt and feel now without her.
Bless you all this year and for-always.

We don't think about losing so many friends and family until we get older, normally. I guess I've now reached the age where it's happening all around me. I'm beginning to take it as the norm. I never could handle the death of others - but since so many have gone before me now, I'm coming to the point of acceptance that it's now on my mind that I'm probably going to lose a lot more of my friends and family and wasn't thinking about that when I was just a little bit younger.

I think we need to keep lifting everyone here up in prayer. We're all losing and will lose loved ones and each person will take it a bit differently and differently depending also upon who it was to them that passed away. I know I'll have a much harder time with those closest to me - but we never know. One friend died while I was very busy when first moving in here with my dad and her death hit me when things slowed down here, about two yrs later.

The Brighthouse post is true about the Only One that can get us through these things. No one could say the right thing but Him. And normally it's just that one close friend that knows us best that can empathize with any effectiveness.
Thanks again for your post. It's true, as the Scriptures you gave are true as well.

I personally think this would be a good forum.

There are many grief forums on the web but most of them are not Christian in nature. It certainly seems as if it would have a place in these forums and extremely beneficial to many members.

I agree, Jordan and Yvette. (Did somebody start one, btw?)

God works in and through His people. He is certainly our great Comforter, but:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. - 2 Cor 1:3&4

It's easy to say "Go to God and let him comfort you. He certainly will, but God continually accentuates the God-working-through-human element throughout scripture. We are over and over told to pray for one another, provide for each other's needs, love one another (in action, not feeling), to encourage one another, to speak truth to each other, and as the scripture above states - to comfort those afflicted as we have been comforted by Him.
I'm a bit surprised at the brush-off attitude by a few given to Yvette when she inquired about a grief forum. Love should be first on our agenda.
I myself have had great trouble this year with deaths. If I had assurance that those who died whom I loved entered Heaven, then I would have grieved shortly and then had great joy knowing they were at peace with The Lord. But I cannot even begin to express the heavy-hearted sadness and dark grief I've experienced when taking into consideration my dad, whom I deeply loved, may be spending eternity in torment. Or when my long-time high school friend who I took to church and Bible study, and whom I prayed for committed suicide. Both in 2014. There were days when it felt as if God had abandoned me and I was filled with anxiety which I'd never felt in the 26 years I've known Jesus. In those times I desperately needed to speak with a believer who could speak comfort to my soul by God's Spirit. Thanks to God He provided those people, but I would love to be able to have a discussion with others on here who may have been through the same.

I started a group called Grief Support and Sharing here on CC. It is moderated, and you have to join to view the posts, which I think is the least we can do for privacy without making it a closed invite only group...I don't want it to exclude anyone.
Thank you so much for all your replies.

I remember growing up in one year we went to over 7 funerals in one year! For the first few,as much as the shock of this happening,is the heartache of such a loss, and just when you think, you are getting over one, another leaves you, then another. I got to the point of thinking this happened because I must be so bad of a person, why do all my friends need to suffer as i am?

Family gathers round you, saying it was just there time is all,and then it truly hit me,like someone shot a diamond right in between my eyes. TIME!! Make the most of everyday with those whom you truly care about!! ( matt 22:40-41) How one deals with being left behind is far more important then being left behind.

Since we do not know which day the Lord is coming for us personal!( verse 42) Always be ready! verse 44 Words you wished you would have said while they were living, make sure you say to those still around you! Don't wait! Much of my own regret came from never telling that person who left me,just how much they meant to me.( rev 14:13) For their deeds follow with them, make sure our good deeds follow after those who are alive as well!

And so that is just what I began doing. I was told by many, hey!! You are talking to me as if this will be the last time you see me?? Why?? Because i want you to know, and understand, and yes truly believe you have meaning to me! And if the Lord were to take me away to be with him tomorrow, you may never have truly known.

It is from this mindset, that I know for sure,my words, as all of yours, have great value to another! At least, they can have! How much do we truly care? Our words to another bear this enlightenment!( matt 5:14-16!!) This is in no regard to any solution. This is one way I choose to look at this for myself. This is something to consider, for the pains felt by another, cannot be measured from any other person, all we can do is our best through Christ Jesus to offer comfort!( 2 cor 1:3-7)
