I came to Christian Chat to learn and to be surrounded with like-minded individuals. I see many posts of interest, but after reading through the first page I sometimes find that the thread has taken a hard turn because of a few who are more interested in getting in the last word or retaliating for some wrongdoing.

Revenge is not ours, so retaliation isn't an option. Getting in the last word smacks of pride and we all know where pride can lead. If one has a problem with what is said, then one can disagree. However, failing to make one's disagreement repeatedly or more heated does not signify silent consent.

I often visit these forums on a mobile device. The mobile screen, being smaller than I would like, requires that I scroll more often and this issue is compounded when a thread is full of one-upmanship.

The favor I'd like to ask is for everyone to utilize the private message system in order to avoid filling a thread with off-topic content. Retaliatory posts and one-upmanship are beginning to get old, I don't read them and having to scroll past them is burdensome to others. We're like a big family here, and I feel it is best to make things easy for others if possible.

Thanks for reading :)

This is nothing new. And won't stop. I've seen all sorts of attempts to try to get, one section of the forums in particular, to change. Nothing phases the tone of the posts. People aren't going to utilize PMs because they want to be public. They seem to feed off of the public attention and the 'debating'.
They also have the right to utilize the public sections of the forums in such a way. The best way to not see these posts is to avoid the forums.
