Since we ALL can't get along in the BDF I would suggest it either be locked where we can't post whatsoever, or deleted and never brought back forever. I just can't stand going in there and seeing now threads about a certain member. When are we going to get along? NEVER!!! Not until the forum is abolished for good.

Nah, those same people still won't get along, they'll just take their arguments to other sub forums.

Dan, just don't read the forum.

Or if you do and you see something you don't like on a thread
then stop reading and responding to that thread.

Simples!!!!

Actual I just realised you might not get that joke if you haven't seen
the meerkats.

I do understand how upset people can get and how emotionally charged
the forums can get. But if me as a mere woman PMT and all can just
ignore it all, then there is hope for you too. ;)

Seriously?

People debate serious doctrinal issues, some of which REALLY REQUIRE serious debate,
and your solution is to end all debate of doctrinal issues, forever,
as if doctrine suddenly ceases to exist, or matter?

I could point out scripture and show how unbiblical that is, but I'm sure it would just be ignored.

Let me remind everyone of THREE SIMPLE SOLUTIONS:

1) If the Bible Discussion Forum upsets you... then take some responsibility for your own actions, and DON'T GO IN THERE.

2) You have an ignore button for every member whose company you don't enjoy... again, take some some responsibility for yourself, and HIT THE IGNORE BUTTON, AND STOP LISTENING.

3) If someone is violating the rules... again, take responsibility for yourself and LEARN ALL THE SITE RULES. Then you can report a person when they are violating the rules.

Banning everything on planet earth you dislike is really not the solution to all things.

Taking responsibility for your own actions will usually do the trick.

If I put everyone I didn't want to have contact with on my ignore list, that would be every single active member. Ha!!!!! But, I like going in there and reading and learning about the bible in there.

Fantastic.

It's great you like going into the BDF forum and learning about the bible.
But you clearly can't go in there, and learn about the bible, if that forum is deleted.

In our current post-postmodern culture, people worry far too much about disagreeing with each other.
It isn't a horrible sin to have a disagreement.

It's often by disagreeing, and questioning each other, that we are provoked to study and learn.

It's alright to have a bit of debate.

Anytime you debate, a few people are going to get wound up, and act crazy.
That's just part of the territory.
It's going to happen.
And when it does... the world doesn't end.

If all you have to say about the site are complaints and thinking how horrible everyone is then what are you doing here?
And you like going in there... but it's so horrible in there you think it should be shut down? That is a complete and utter contradiction. But given your propensity to flip flop in what you believe and think, based off of your own threads, i suppose this shouldn't surprise me really.

And BDF is the most active forum on the site, so do you really think they are going to shut it down? And bear in mind posts are public and can be found through Google, meaning those posts are a part of what brings in new users. I'm certain that they are not going to close the most active section of the site, that has the potential to bring in new users.

I think a more legitimate solution would be to have the section moderated more. I know they try to keep a balance of giving freedom while still maintaining control, but i think the BDF (and in particular a number of the regulars there) should have the reigns tightened. For while the section may be a big draw to new users, i also see many people quitting because of it being so out of control. And since some of the BDF regulars have started spreading out into the site more i'm seeing more of this behavior popping up in other areas of the forums as well. That is one of the reasons i quite frequenting the Singles section. BDFers started coming in and doing what they do. Now the Singles have gone from a friendly place to chat to having more strife and disagreements.

Sorry I'm stating my opinion. Guess it's against the rules of the human race for me to have complaints. I seriously am trying to be better. You may not see it, but I am. And I'm not the only one complaining. Look at the couple of recent threads in BDF and see people complaining left and right.

What am I doing here? Trying to learn from others what they know about the bible and other subjects. So, I'm trying to voice an opinion and suggestion. It's not gonna happen. But, ya never know.

I have my share of complaints too. But my complaint isn't that I would put everyone on ignore and shut down the most active part of the forum. And if you think everyone is so bad we would all be on ignore, and it if you think the BDF is so horrible it should be shut down, then I think it's reasonable to question why you're here at all. To hear the way you talk about the site it seems there's nothing for you to like about it.

And you posted a debatable topic. In the public forums. Someone questioned you on it. That's how it t works. So feel free to voice opinions and complaints, but also expect responses from those who agree And disagree.

For several years prior to coming to CC I was active in an automotive forum. They had a Misc. Forum that was open for random threads on all subjects EXCEPT politics and religion, those two topics were specifically excluded from the site and threads that turned towards those topics were closed by staff. Threads on those topics invariably became heated thus the ban on those topics.

Here on CC the Bible Discussion Forum is specifically dedicated to discussing one of the most divisive subjects known to man, religion. People tend to hold their beliefs very closely and many are prone to become hot around the collar when people disagree with them or attack the voracity of their point of view.

BDF is the most difficult forum here on CC to moderate because many of the threads can get very heated. If site staff comes down hard invariably they are accused of stifling free discussion, of banning people for "no reason", or banning people just because the particular Mod didn't agree with the particular user's doctrinal views. Of course if they don't come down hard they are accused of letting the forum become the free for all that it has recently become. Moderating BDF has always been a no win situation thus the general standing among site staff is to usually only ban in cases of blatant heresy or continued long term rudeness, name calling, or sarcasm from specific users.

Unfortunately most reported posts they see tend to be from the middle of a heated debate that may carry through numerous threads and rarely do any of these VOLUNTEERS have the time to dig through hundreds of posts to figure out who fired the first shot.
