There are a few people on here who come along about once a week, plop up a sermon and then leave. That's it. No conversation. Just a sermon.

So how about a forum specifically for sermons? They can keep doing their thing, and, if anyone is actually interested, they can go and read them. Since the preacher isn't interested in conversing, I don't even think it needs to be a forum. Just a place to read sermons.

Sound like a good idea?

If you like listening AND discussing sermons you should come to Bible Study Room.
Don't be surprised if there's a 'line in front of the pulpit' though.

The Internet Chaplain? He goes around to several forums and posts the same sermon, every week or so. He's not interested in discussing anything, nor explaining anything he posted. He has been doing this for years.

Personally? The idea holds no appeal for me. Give me a few fairly deep paragraphs that will trigger discussion.... not a sermon.

He's not the only one, but I agree. Then again, maybe someone gets something out of it, so I thought they could get whatever they want out of it without it being put into forums with titles like "Bible Discussion" or "Family."

Problem is they wouldn't use it. I've seen those guys and they don't even read others comments. And the rare occasion they do they feel justified to post anywhere they want. Trying to provide a place for those people won't work because they think they are special and will continue posting anywhere they feel like.

I can absolutely see the mods and admins hating this suggestion because my answer to seeing stuff posted in the absolutely wrong forum is to send a report to notify the mods to move it. (Oh boy! How fun is their day when many do the same thing? lol)

Reading this post made me think of this verse: "When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, "Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit." -John 1:47

I think Ugly is a lot like Nathanael was... lol.

Here's the problem: This is the internet...and ultimately, a posted sermon will be chewed to pieces and spit out! We can't even have the 'perfect' BIBLE study without deep frustrations, feelings being 'hurt', newborn CHRISTIANS not understanding, older mature CHRISTIANS condemning those that do not align with what they think is supposed to be "RIGHT", etc. If the BIBLE study were really attended and used as it should be, the idea of a posted "SERMON" would not be needed. The bible would be the ultimate topic, not who would make the best President, or a recent diet to help overweight CHRISTIANS, or 'but what about those who are depressed, bipolar, and schizo?" We live in a depressed society as a whole and most CHRISTIANS truely want to make a difference, but I am finding that the internet is just a soap box podium where they can feel 'justified" in speaking their MINDS. I say 'get into the dirt'....volunteer at a local charity, soup kitchen, missionary outreach, or homeless shelter. Rub elbows with those that society condemns...reflect JESUS to them by your words and actions...more is done that way to introduce them to JESUS than sitting in an airconditioned room and posting in a CHRISTIAN chatroom....remember: GOD will NOT ask you 'DID YOU post in www.christianchat.com today? HE will ask "What have you done for ME today?"

And yet, here you are posting a sermon on Christian Chat about how useless sermons are, how useless this site is, and how useless everything is except for you. Go figure.

He's an actual pastor too. I wonder how often his congregation gets up and walks out on him.. :)

I don't have the patience to read a sermon. I don't the patience to read a long paragraph. I will say that it can be scary to say something that you truly believe and then come back and read people's replies.

Well, if you don't have the patience to read one, then you'd know not to go to the Sermon Forum, because they're all too long to read. On the other hand, they're not filling up other forums either, so you don't spend that time clicking on a post to find out if it's a question, only to find out it's a sermon.

Well, I guess I was trying to make two points. First, I am not a fan of long posts, so I wouldn't probably read a sermon, no matter where it was found. From that point of view, your idea of having a sermon forum would be a good idea, since I wouldn't invest time checking out a thread I wasn't going to read.

But I did want to mention that it can be scary to read people's posts when you start a thread. Maybe that is why some people will say something and then not come back.
