to differentiate from a less formal discussion of Bible topics.

For a new section to be created there has to be a high enough demand to justify it. As you can see there isn't a large selection of forum areas. That's for a reason. And some that seemed justifiable are actually barely used.
Also any topic that may be a place to induce debate has a strike against it, and as you can see by the bible forums it doesn't take much. And if an area may seem to invite non-Christians to come to the site to debate it will not be out in as the site owner made it clear the site is not a debate site.
99.9% of new forums ideas are suggested to either make your own single thread or create a private chat group. Most private chat groups stop being active within a few weeks.
Unless the site owner sees the idea as having a high enough demand and not risking any issues from its existence it won't be put into place. So your best chance is to make a thread or private group.

Thank you for the information, I appreciate you taking the time to give your input.

To tell you the truth, I often have no idea, at all, what particular room I happen to be in at any given time. And, I don't really care. If the topic looks interesting, I'm there. If not, I could care less.

And, when a subject degrades into the usual "law vs. grace" playground bickering, (as most eventually do) I just find someplace else to type.

Perhaps the Misc forum would be a less hostile environment. The conversation would not be as lively though.
Well, if "not too lively" means pleasant exchanges, that would be fine with me.

Actually that would mean having less people participate. The Misc forum is pretty random as to who participates in it. If you post in the BFD your thread will probably take off and be pages long in no time. Post in the Misc forum and you will have a much slower discussion. It has a chance of going longer before degrading into a debate.

1. I may be 60 but I'm a newbie here :) so.. what does BFD mean?.. Bible Forum Discussion?

2. I like pleasant exchanges, whereas the word "debate" seems to more often then not, imply the less pleasant kind. :)

3. Would the misc be the place to have Bible word games for instance?

What I see is this:

After two days, there are pages of discussion and the discussion is so large that one person would be missed in the discussion while everyone else would consider the discussion "old".

No idea where you got that from. I said the creation of a new section in the forums requires a large enough demand. Not talking about individual threads, the subject here is a new section entirely. We have Singles, Misc, New Users, etc... So in order to add an Apologetics area would be a large enough demand is needed to see it put in.
How exactly that translates to what goes on in a single thread is beyond me.
