My suggestion is a Sign Language room. So the d/Deaf and hard-of-hearing can have a room to go to and talk in sign language on the cam. Just a thought..

I 'm not aware of any Deaf/HOH members in here. I'm Hearing myself and would love to have some deaf friends to practice with, It seems so long since I signed at all!

Scotty, maybe my comment is silly, but...

Deaf people can type? What's the problem? :D

Or is it just for practicing purposes?

Typing isn't the same as actually signing. So much more can be said on the face and with the hands than with mere text alone. The expression on the face, or the mouth morpheme can change the meaning or context of the utterance.

lol I meant in ASL, but I still can't see your facial expressions, or hear the inflections in your voice by reading your typed words.

ASL - American Sign Language
JSL
BSL
SEE sign- sign exact English...

All can be done on video like it would using a service such as Sorenson Video.

I think that a room dedicated to sign is not really necessary since most rooms already have video capabilities.

But if a person has a disability like that they maybe ask for a disability room...so other people with disabilities can meet there.

I did a report on Brazilian sign language for my Deaf Culture class.

being deaf or hard of hearing is not necessarily considered a disability. I'm hard of hearing and I communicate most of the time in ASL (American Sign Language) I was just throwing in the idea.. If several people gets together and wants to sign, it would become annoying to people in the other rooms that may want to use the cam options.. Just an idea.. nothing more

Yea. i don't think the mods would allow you to sign on cam without an interpreter, cus not many people here know ASL. Maybe you could do it in the multicam room if it's still there. I'd love to practice with you, but my cam doesn't work that well.

I changed my mind. We don't need to add another room. If me and a friend wants to sign, we can just go to an empty room, there's plenty of those. Not much d/Deaf people anyways.

I'd love to teach you, but ASL wouldn't help you much over there. :p I think you'd have to learn BSL instead.
