Seems like as soon as something new happens or someone has formulated a new opinion on their opposing electorate, they create a new thread and the news forum is flooded with American politics. A consolidated thread where you can blast one another with your opinions and news seems like a good idea to me.

Gasp! How dare you sir, you should be as equally enthralled and addicted to our election circus-err...process as we are.
But seriously, yeah if politics cannot be totally eliminated then creating a thread/forum and putting some police tape around it? This American approves this suggestion.

So make a thread for it.
But really. Half the people in the threads are not even Americans. So that's a big part of the problem.
But look at BDF. Everyone has to have their own thread for every topic. Same would happen with politics thread. Would be work to constantly monitor and deal with new American politics threads.

Orrrr, have the news forum be about news instead of the op-ed page.

They are shorter.. Our last election from it's calling to the actual vote was 8 weeks...

You Americans from the selection process to the actual vote seems to take 2 years duration.. I don't know how you can handle it.. insanity...

I don't if I'm the person for creating the thread as I am not involved or have any interest in the subject matter, I was more thinking of a mod taking charge on it and creating a sticky if American political threads are going to continue to dominate the news forum.

The difference between the BDF and new forum us at least the threads in BDF are mostly related to bible discussion even though there may be multiple threads on one topic over time but the news forum is not dedicated to American politics and is being dominated by it by the amount of new threads created. Policing it? Well, it would take for it to stick but ey, that's what mods are for I guess.

I am all for an American Politics Forum where Trump and Hilary fans can insult each other until their hearts are content and leave the News Forum to the rest of us.

I've never seen anything like it...we certainly don't have that 3 ring circus going on in Canada...a short campaign season and then it's all over...my guy didn't win this time

American politics seem to be almost or bigger than their football fixation

now I'm going to get it........muh..heh..heh..heh

American political campaigns seem to be continuous from one year to the next. I wouldn't be surprised if the next Presidential campaign wasn't being planned already that is if there is to be one at all

And yet, certain Canadians get fixated on American politics. Mebbe they ought to direct their attacks toward Ottawa to spice things up over there (?).

That is why there is so much corruption around getting campaign funds. It costs a lot of money to deceive so many people for so long!
