I am wondering about this, as a relatively new chatter.

I like the idea that there are different rooms for different purposes. But I have find very often that the rooms are not applied for their purpose (according to the name) and I was wondering if it was just my confusion about this.

For instance, chatters will come into the Bible Study Room and make it a 'second Lounge', regardless of what is going on there at that moment - causing actual bible studies or readings to be interrupted. This confuses me somewhat.

Can someone shed some light on this for me please?

Well this is a no win situation for us moderators.

If we enforce the purpose of each room, then chatters get mad and feel like we're running some strict regime where they can't fellowship!

Yet if we don't strictly enforce the purpose of each room, then we have people mad because there may be off topic fellowship happening in the room.

So do we strictly enforce room rules, get people mad, get accused of being a strict evil regime that is stifling fellowship and creating an atmosphere where people are paranoid to even talk? Or do we allow for off topic fellowship at times?

And yes, these are actual accusations we face!

So in answer to your question. Things may be this way because honestly, some of us mods are worn out from trying to run this site the way it should, only to be demonized for doing so. We may see the off topic convo at times and just not feel like dealing with it, because in the past when we have, people accuse us of creating an environment where they are afraid to speak!!!

Hey,

I know you guys are worn out, and I believe you have personally said that you read every single post under your jurisdiction.

Is there not a way where you can just allow us to report concerns to you, rather than you all burning yourselves out? There are lots of good regulars who know what's appropriate and what isn't. We can certainly report concerns to you when we see them, in order to spare you some energy.

Honestly, I don't know how you find the time...

my favorite room is the prayer room, and we will just about tolerate any one and invite all to fellowship, if they want to hold a conversaation or ask questions concerning the bible or life within the context of the Bible ( bible study) it is the Word of God, we welcome it whole heartenly,,,,, but when someone come in and ask for prayer, we with love and respect ask all conversations to seast until after prayer, and if it is something they would not like to stop talking about we will lovenly ask ( not demand ) if they would like that there are other rooms available for there needs.... and if they want to argue or fuss about it... we just start praying and praising the Lord.... it helps everytime.... so if the enemy wants to stir up strife,, just start praying and praising the Lord,,, and tell the devil he is a lier... start praying for the person/people who it is coming from,,,,, trust me it will run them out or make them stay to learn.......... give to the Lord and let his love flow in the room to set the atmosphere full of him and no devil in hell to stay where the presence of God has been release............ it works ever time in the prayer room....... try it... and do it in faith that the Lord will move them out of you all way,,, for you are choosing is a good thing,,, to sit at the feet of God and learn of him........ do it in love,,, thou we walk in the flesh,,,, our war is not after the flesh,,,, know that the devil will use who ever he can to stop the will of God,,,, love the person BUT RUN THE DEVIL OUT!!!!!! Hope this helps....... praise be to the Glory of God ,,,, P.S Please don't call no one a devil..... lol :) Amen love, peace in the Holy GHOST!!

There is a report post button on each post. Read the sticky thread in bible forum about heated discussions for how to report posts.

I do understand you guys (the mods) have a tough job and it is much appreciated! I truely don't envy you having to deal with some situations.

What is kinda frustrating is when serious studies are distrubted because someone has an urge to use their mic and the lounge is too busy. It is not serious I suppose, and usually the room stops and allows the conversation - I was just wondering if there were hard and fast rules about it.

I suppose the best way to handle it is to let it ride out. Or move the study to another room, but it seems pointless if the study started in the room which was created for it and has to be moved to another room so we can finish. *sigh*
