I know this issue has been discussed before but I wanted to ask the moderators if there is any chance the reputation anonymity could be removed?
I remember reading an old thread on this that it can be removed but wasn't after some arguments happened when negative reputation was left.

I have been left a few positive/neutral reps since I've joined here but there is no name attached so I have been left unable to say thanks or reach out in return, if the purpose of reputation is to build up people we like and agree with isn't it damaging to the goal of fellowship to then remove our ability to identify and talk with people who we connect with more than others?

I get that people can leave their names if they wish too but I don't understand what point is served by it, is it simply to protect those who leave negative reputation(s)?.

If that is so doesn't that just allow for poor behaviour, if someone renders an opinion a person doesn't like they can challenge it openly and in a civillised way on the thread in question and if they really disapprove can always report the post, but if they choose to leave a negative rep they should do so knowing they have to accept responsibility for it.

I like to think grown adults could discuss it without being insulting, personally I wouldn't have much of an issue if someone left a negative rep for me as all it means is that they disapprove of my viewpoint and that's hardly going to be a shock to anyone who participates on a forum.

I'd love to know who has left me reps and I'd like others to know that I have left it for them, it took me a while to realise I should be leaving my name in the comment section.....I'm not so bright!

It's no big deal.......but is there any chance?.

Well, you know when you rep someone's post, you can leave a comment (a must for negitives), so when you rep someone you can leave your name in the comment if you please.

The problem with that is it doesn't help me to find out who left reputation for me in the past, and that's what I would like to know.

Matthew awhile ago robo made it where we could see who was doing the reputation and it caused some problems because people could see who was doing the negative ones.

Well, perhaps, in the Control Panel, there can be a list of the reps we (individually) submitted to others posts, IDK.

I'm with ya Matty

Someone left me a rep telling me to get over myself.

I'd love to know who it was so I can ask them how to get over myself.

I had someone leave me a bad rep point telling me i drink to much hatarade. I'm curious where i can get this hatarade at. Does it have alcohol in it? Is it making me to fat? For the person who left me that comment. Could you send me a bottle?

i had to google it, i was too interested not to

a figurative drink representing a modality of thought. those who consume it are themselves consumed by the negativity which with they speak

the person must've been saying you are negative

or maybe they just thought you were thirsty

It's a bit ironic that I got more reps since making this thread than I have in the last 3 months.......so thanks to those who gave me positives and indentified themselves :), and isn't it a surprise that the negative(s) I got were anonymous??? what exactly is it people fear about leaving a negative?

I feel like if you can't say it to my face don't say it all, I'm not gonna start insulting you for disagreeing with me, or do people want to avoid getting negatives themselves while trashing everyone else????

If someone reps another bad, I think it should be when that person's logic on scripture is twisted and contrary to the Bible, not because their personal opinion.

Hi Matthew (and others) ... I am not an avid poster, and only ever had either good rep, or niether good nor bad rep points given me, but I too, think it would be right to be able to see who gave you what type of rep. In your post, Matthew, what stands out to me is this statement....
if someone renders an opinion a person doesn't like they can challenge it openly and in a civillised way on the thread in question and if they really disapprove can always report the post, but if they choose to leave a negative rep they should do so knowing they have to accept responsibility for it.
I agree entirely! A person should be accountable for all they write on here....whether it be on the public forums, or in the private messageing type areas. Maybe if a person knew they could be identified as having said a certain type of comment, and could be asked to explain, they may be more apt to write comments such as, "I found this post negative..." instead of "you drink too much haterade" (To ME the "haterade" comment was very negative!!!!!--what does a comment like that accomplish???)

oh and Matthew?? I have never given rep points..don't really know how!! hahha but I have enjoyed and agreed with many of your posts. Good luck in this....I think it's a good suggestion.

I think the reputation should either removed alltogether, or only go up ( no negative rep)
a christian site shouldnt give people the cnahce to "rate" each other down, even if they disagree :)

That's exactly my feeling as well, not to put too fine a point on it but this anonymous negative function seems to allow for cowardly behaviour......someone can leave a hateful comment and then be a bit more tactful on the thread and none of us know just how nasty they might be because they are protected, that kind of thing shouldn't be encouraged and the system as it is does exactly that.

If they're name sits alongside their comment it might prompt them to show a little more tact and be civil about it.

Thanks nanabean, I appreciate the compliment :) I try my best.

rep is "reputation"

you can give positive or negative rep to a persons post, and the "rep points" are summed up and shown on the persons profile/ posts
if you give negative rep you gotta leave a comment, but of course nothing stops you from not writing anything constructive there

I don't know if this is just me as a mod, but when I click directly on the control panel button at the top, the first thing that shows on that page next to the sidebar is 'latest reputation received' and then lists who gave it, if it was good or bad at their comments if they chose to leave any... Maybe you can check and see if it works on yours.

Yeah my reputation is there as well but it only shows the lastest 7 that have been recieved, it gives the date and the comment if one has been left along with a link to the post, but no names.
