I was thinking about this idea. Well what if I made a thread and misspelled it or want to change the title of it? It would be nice to be able to that, very helpful :). And also I wanted to be able to delete a thread if I could that I didn't want anymore, I had a problem with deleting a thread I made...and I had to change the words in the post I think I said, sorry nevermind or something.

Would be nice, and very helpful, thanks, God bless

Its been my experience that none of the forum sites i've been on allow people to delete posts or threads. Typically you have to ask if a moderator would be willing to do it for you, which forces you to be more thought out in what you post.
Also i don't think they want people changing the names of threads because they don't want people starting a thread, getting responses, then shifting the purpose of the thread, confusing people. I'd suggest just being more cautious before starting something & double checking your spelling before posting.
Of course i'm not the site owner, he may like your ideas. Just sharing my experiences that i've not seen those things available on any site.

You can't DELETE threads, but you can edit them. However, you must do so withing 2 mins of submitting it.

I suggest you preview your post entirely to make sure you're completely happy with it before you submit it- it takes a few mins extra, but saves al the hassle later on.

The reason we don't delete is because it affects search engines like google. ie" if someone googled a random topic like 'christian homsexual' or something (this is purely an example) then many of the threads on this site would appear in the search results. When we delete threads it minimises the links on this site appearing in search engines, thus minimising the amount of exposure CC has on the internet. If that makes sense.

If you have some urgently critical reason for needing your posts deleted- and it's paramount to your safety or something (again example) contact a Moderator and they can help you.

Hope that clears things up.

Thanks Iraasuup but it's more than that.

Once a post is made, people start replying to it. If the post is later edited then it can mess up the whole thread and confuse everything since the rest of the thread consists of replies to the original, which is no longer the same.

And yes allowing thread titles to be later changed then results in broken links showing up in Google if it's already been indexed.

Anyway as Iraasuup said there is a 2 min window to edit (and you can proofread and even choose the "Preview" option before finally posting it, and still also have that 2 min window after making it final).

Yes Robo, that's what I meant.

I knew you would be able to explain it better than I could.
