This is more of a query for help than a suggestion. I'm having issues with connection problems and the chat room. I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with this in the past and what they did to solve this issue? Also, is there a particular browser that is best to work with CC?

I only have problems getting in to cc whenever my internet acts up, or if there is a problem with the cc site itself. So far, its just been my connection :)

I use google chrome. It is faster than Internet explorer.

are u having connection problems getting into chat or are u having connection problems once u are in and have been talking for a few minis
also, i would suggest deleting your browsers cookies and cache, and what type of Internet do u have (e.g. broadband, cable, T1/T3(fiber-optic))

Once I'm in, it drops. I'm using DSL. I've deleted the cache and cookies, so I'll let you know if that works.

a DSL connection sometimes suffers form drops in connection speed. when in the chat room if your connection speed drops drasticly even if only for like 10 seconds then the chat server will have a hard time "talking" to your computer or it wont receive a response at all thus resulting in the "connection error" message

I cleared the cache and cookies, but things didn't get better. So maybe it's the DSL, like you suggested, Ex-Ranger

before they finally offered high speed where i live i had dial up and the same thing that happens on DSL happens on dial up only 100 time worse, the only suggestion i have is to buy a DSL line noise filter its a lil box that plugs into your phone jack it should reduce part of the problem the other part theres not anything you can other then upgrade to fiber optic

I use a proxy server for my internet connection here at uni. I can log in and when I go into chat it starts loading the chat screen, but then it doesn't open the chat window, though on my profile it says im currently chatting!? I use Chrome, but I've tried with Opera and Internet Explorer. I just can't get in..! :'(

when you say "it starts loading the chat screen" does it load the popup window and you can see the outline/background of the chat app with a small rectangle that says Christian chat(.com) and a black loading bar beneath it, or the window opens and does nothing?

Yes, it loads up to that point, then nothing happens.

None of that works. It still won't load fully.
I've updated active X, java, flash player. Checked that its not blocked. For some reason it just won't open. :(

I tried opening the site on my roommate's laptop, she has the same issue. I figure since everything on my side is pretty much updated, the only issue is that CC is having an issue with the fact that our internet is sourced from a proxy server. Which means I'll have to wait till I get home to dad's HSPDA line so I can use CC. Which sucks. -_- Thanks for your help though.

Sometimes i get that trouble. On a bad day with it i may have to try as many as 10-11 times before it will let me all the way into the Chat. I also had a friend in Botswana that sometimes took 2 hours. Not sure how the proxy server would affect you though. *shrug

First, try updating your Adobe Flash. Second, I don't recommend using Google Chrome (although I would take Chrome over IE).

If you have connection problems regardless of which browser you're using, chances are it's your internet connection. If you're using wireless internet, that could very well be the culprit.

But I would blame Chrome first and foremost, and then Adobe Flash. Chrome just isn't as compatible with everything as people would like it to be (yet).

Note: Defragging the hard drive will do nothing to or for CC connection problems.
