I found you can mail messages to eachother on here by going under "mail messages" and click "send new message" you can send a message to another member.

I would appreciate it if there was a "send message" button as a link on peoples pages. I don't really feel like trying to email others. Simply want to send messages that others can read on here.

Then why don't you just leave them a message on their profile, instead of an email?

If you're on a persons profile, all you have to do is click 'contact info' tab and it brings up contact options. mostly cc email. There is an option to leave a public message on their page, but many people opt out of that choice for their own reasons. So its not that we don't have what you're asking for, just that most people don't want it on their page.
