I use a lowspeed connection at a location I often stay but i've been able to use the chat rooms only once.

There is a lowspeed option. It won't show video, but it will allow voice chat. But some lowspeed users do have a hard time getting in. I can't really do anything about that right now. Months down the road we're likely to redo the whole chat app, and it may be easier to connect after we do that.
