"And hereeeeee's your host, Stilly!!!!"

Okay... that was a selling point for the idea.

Ever noticed how the sounds in the chat room do not always come through? Almost as if maybe some chatters are talking at the same time and it interferes somehow?

I had come from another forum where the usual soundless chat room had a leader giving a lesson and every now and then a hand would be raised by a chatter like this: o/

That would mean that the chatter has a question or comment to share. The leader in the chat room would then pause when he or she is done in making a point in the topic and permit the chatter to speak by calling that chatter by name and then the chatter will say "done" after asking the question or making the comment so as to free up the room for the host to respond or anybody else to raise a hand o/ to participate on, waiting for the host to give the chatter permission to speak or chat.

The leader would answer or call on someone that raised his or her hand if somone else wanted to share or add to the question or ask a question back towards the inquirer. The leader controls the flow of the communication in the chatroom so it is not overwhelm by too many chatters at once, going off in different directions on the topic.

The leader would be giving a lesson and every now and then he or she would stop and ask if anyone had any question or comment.

So what if.... we apply that method to the idea of having a Christian Chat Room Show? It would be just another room in the list of chat rooms that can be utilized whenever a moderator feel like hosting a show. A moderator can give a specified time for the show by making an announcement for the show time and the show's topic in the forum and if another moderator joins in, then the leaving moderator can ask if the recently arrived moderator would like to continue the show. Otherwise, everybody would just go back to the Lounge or any of the other rooms for chat until the next set show by the moderator at another time.

The Christian Chat Room show can be like a Bible lesson given by the moderator.... or a talk show on any given christian concern in the world.... or an interview with members of the forum... or a variety show for entertainment like the "Tonight's Show".

The set time and theme of the show should be posted by the host of the show... and God be willing, chatter that have interests will be able to attend and God be willing, the moderator will make it pending no deterrance from hosting his or her show as we all know that sometimes life throws a curve and we are not always where we want to be nor on time.

So what do you all think?

Chatters could posts suggestive topics for the CCR Show and wait to see if the moderator would want to host that show's topic. Moderators do not need to feel that they have to host every sugggestion given. It's whatever topic they are led to do.

If the modertaor wants to make sure that the topic they have chosen is pertaining to a general interest, they can make a list of suggestions of topics they want to do in the forum and see how many chatters want to attend that topic.

And if it works out pretty well, then maybe Christian Chat Room Show will get around on the internet so more believers will come, God be willing.

I think that's a good idea, but wouldnt that encourage the forming of "exclusive" groups? I can see people asking "Why is HE being interviewed and not me?" "Why didnt they choose MY topic?" "Why are THEY monopolizing the conversation?" And then you would have the "stars" and the common people. It would take alot of tact to keep people happy.

Well, anyone raising their hands o/ like that are obligated to be called upon and preferably in order.

They do not have to do interviews of chatters. That is a good point regarding that. It was only a suggestion. If the CC Room Show becomes famous, they could interview media known christian leaders, singers, or actresses or actors, ect. and etc. But that is if God be willing.

As for monopolizing the converstation, the modertaor can suggest the chatter to round up the points she or he is trying to make, preferably to the flow of the topic of the show. If deviates, then the host can inform the chatter politely that they are degressing from the topic.

Since you are the only one that has responded thus this far, I reckon the idea is not a great one after all. It was only a suggestion. Those in the know would know better if it would work or not.

The moderator being equitative and controlling the flow of the conversation...yeah, I dont know why I thought of people taking control of the conversation. And that's a good solution to the interview, just take them out or interview people outside of Christian Chat. It would be like a radio station. I think it's a good idea, and sometimes people are slow to respond. People not responding shouldnt make you think it was a bad idea, it should make you think how shy they are.

Well, probably not a bad idea, just not one that everybody wants to jump on. Mayhap they are getting their satisfaction by the way things are.

It was only a suggestion anyway.
