Is it possible to create a few extra rooms that the users could post a topic.

Or these specific rooms could be policed by moderators which would post the topics that the users would like to discuss.

It would be great to have a few more rooms that we would discuss a specific topics without being interrupted by someone wanting to break in and talk about their dog. :)

Is this possible?

I'm not sure how well this would work out, but we could try it by simply adding a "Special Topics" room.

But right now we have enough rooms that are often empty so we will wait a bit before considering adding this new room.

Well I think Robo answered one part of this really well... the fact that we already have loads of rooms that aren't always that busy, it might be a good idea to wait a bit. Sometimes we go to the effort of adding rooms as per chatters request, and then it never gets used.

I think this simply boils down to learning to be patient with others and sharing. If you are having such an intense conversation, that you just simply cant deal with the other people who enter wanting idle chit-chat, then those who involved in the intense convo, could just move it to another room. Usually people don't just come into a room and start 'talking about their dog' .. most people come in and ask 'Hey, what's the topic?' or they sit and listen awhile to see if they're interested in the topic, or if they wanna switch rooms.

So, just carry on with your conversation. If someone truly is being disruptive, then let a mod know, but if they just don't want to talk about what you're talking about, that's not such an issue. We need to remember there are thousands of users on this site, so we all have to try and be considerate of each other.

I would also like to point out that implementing a new room isn't as easy as you may think it is, and we don't have the mods to 'police' this room as you suggested. As Mods, we don't have the time to put all of our focus in one spot for hours on end, while other needs get neglected. There are many other things we need to attend to, alot of them are unseen 'behind the scenes' things, that help keep this site up and running.

I hope that helps :)

Honestly, I don't like this particular idea... It's just like what we have in the forums... Sure, you can't talk on the mic in the forums. but if someone wants to talk about a certain topic, they can just put it in the forums and get feedback that way.

I agree, the last thing we need right now is another room. There is the random room, the biblestudy room, young adults, ect. alot of times those rooms are empty. If you have a topic you want to discuss just get whom ever you are chatting with to join you in one of those rooms.

In agreement as well, there are more times than I care to think of, that I will 'check out' other rooms because I myself, wish to talk about something that would be considered 'idle chit chat' and find that most of the other rooms are often empty. Not to mention 'parking'. There are many people that come into a room and 'park' or 'loft', they are there, but not active. I do this often times as I come on from work, and honestly, if I come back after being 'idle' for an hour or so, and people are chatting about things that are not my cup of tea, I just politely go to another room or wait until I have something constructive to add to the conversation. I realize that not all topics or conversations revolve around my interests so if that be the case, I simple go to another room or wait it out.
God bless!!

The bottom line is this, other people need an output and actually want to study the Word, not listen to others talk about how the movie was last night. This I thought was the point of a Bible study room. Maybe put a password in for those who want to use the bible study room so they will have to get the password from the moderator to get in.

I think that we have been considerate, some christians don't want to learn the word of God let them stay in the lounge for go to a secular website. If you dont' have the time as a Mod due to prior commitment then dont' be a moderator. Stand firm in the faith, don't waver..

As a Christian, I believe we are allowed to talk about things other than the Word. We are allowed to discuss the movie we saw last night, or what not. We choose to do this on a Christian site to have fellowship with other Christians because we don't want to be bombarded by the filth on other chat sites. There are nights I want to hear deep discussion about the Word and what's going on in Bible study, yet there are some nights, I've been here, at home, by myself all day, since I'm laid off and I would just like to have conversation. I know it can be frustrating when you are having a conversation, or serious discussion and someone comes in acting goofy, but I have been around for a month or two now and I really don't see this much other than in the lounge. Which is just what it says it is ... a lounge, a place to relax and talk with others. I may be quiet in the rooms, as I don't have a mic yet and it's hard to get in on the convo without one, but I do visit regularly. If you are in the lounge trying to have a serious discussion and others want to talk about their dog or a movie, I say take the convo to an empty room, you can always find one. Now if you are in the Bible study and someone comes in talking about their dog, I personally don't think it would be wrong to inform them of the current topic and somehow suggest if they aren't interested in talking about their dog or a movie review to take it to another room. Its no different than others asking the serious discussions being moved to another room... These are solely just my opinions, but it seems like common sense and basic manners can solve this problem. :)

I think that's kind of an over reaction and unfair statement on your part. Just because we may not be available every hour of the day to meet every specific need someone has in chat, doesn't mean we shouldn't be a moderator.

I'm sorry, but I've observed you in the Bible study and other spiritual rooms doing other stuff than Bible study or spiritual activities.

This reaction seems very high and mighty and discounts the reality that you do the same things that others do in the more 'spiritually' labeled rooms.
