Since the new CC has been implemented, there has been an abundance of inappropriate chat going on when the mods are away. I don't know, but maybe the only way to rid the site of this is to do away with the 30 day trial. If they want to try it out, they must be a guest... and guests can't really chat, can they? I don't know, but the chat is definitely not Christian when these people are in there. Or maybe more mods to cover the times when the current mods aren't in there? I don't know, but it's rather disturbing.

Or maybe have it set up in a terms of use agreement that if they violate our terms in their 30 day trial, we can charge their account some odd amount... for our trouble. ;]

oh i noticed that too jeena! it was a little bit frustrating! i'm sure they're doing the best they can to cover all times... but trouble makers usually make their way in late at night... maybe a couple more mods wouldn't be a bad idea.

Well if you see someone talking bad in chat, you can send me a message on here with their user name and your complaint against them.

If you can get a screenshot or copy and paste what they said, that would be even better.

Haha well, not only do we WANT them banned ''now,'' but I think it's important that they get banned as quickly as possible. They fill our chat screen with filth. This is not a good first impression for new members, perhaps, or even old members. It's a reason why I stay away from most other Christian chats... there's nothing decent or Christian about them. So maybe having an ''overnight'' mod or something would be good. Maybe someone from another country who has a different schedule... or someone who is on all through the night regularly...

Jeena are people with a 'guest' id doing this?

Or are these registered users? You make it sound like it happened tons of times already. How many times has it happened?

Well all moderators are doing it on their own time and there isn't enough mods to give this 24-7 coverage you want.

I'm sure he could hire people to moderate 24-7 eventually. But that costs money. And well how is he going to get money enough to hire all these mods people want? He could through subscriptions and donations, but many, many seem opposed to paying for the 'services' they want. One of the few negative traits Americans have.

And ideally it would be good to ban them right away. But that just isn't feasible since we can't guarantee 24-7 coverage. So the best you can do is at least message me or another mod on here and tell us what happened, so we can go and ban them. Then if they are banned, they can't come back and do it again :) I can guarantee at least doing that is better than doing nothing at all.

To message me or another mod, simply go to their profile and find the option to send a message.

But robo is working on making this as close to a chat utopia as possible.

I'm talking about making current members mods... I know of someone who is here overnight on a daily basis who will do it for free. [No, not me.] Also, it has at least happened twice since the new site opened up, to my knowledge. As soon as the mods step out, a bunch of users with supposedly registered nicks come in and bombard us with filthy chat and inappropriate questions. It happened once while I was here, and I do believe, correct me if I'm wrong, it happened sometime yesterday before I was able to connect. [I think Betsy was telling me about it.]

So it sounds like they did it once, then came back.

If I'm interpreting things wrongly, please let me know. What I'm seeing is this. Since we are unable to ban them right away, people appear that they'd rather stew about the fact that they can't be banned right away, instead of simply reporting them, so we can ban them and they can't come back?

If someone had reported them the first time, then they couldn't of come back and caused trouble once they had been banned.

So I guess what I'm saying is this. Instead of being mad that they can't be banned right away and doing nothing. Please report them so they can't come back and continue it.

Keeping chat clean is kind of a partnership between chatters and the mods in my mind. Our part is to be there when we can. Your part is to report things when we aren't there.

Again if I'm interpreting your thinking wrong, I apologize.

As far as making more current members mods, that's more complicated than it looks. It involves a certain amount of trust with things. That trust is really hard to measure over the internet.

I don't think it's the same people... just the same kinds of people. Robo came in the second time around, I know, and he was banning a bunch of them, but then more would just show up. He ended up having to shut the chat down altogether.

In your original post you said..." Since the new CC has been implemented, there has been an abundance of inappropriate chat going on when the mods are away"

But then later you said..."Also, it has at least happened twice since the new site opened up, to my knowledge."

So maybe things aren't as out of control as it might of been initially portrayed?

And again, if things are that out of control, please at least do your part and report them to me or another mod. We're only a few clicks away.

We'll be able to do our part much better if you guys and gals do yours.

I think it's kind of out of control if a lot of people are doing it at once. I haven't really figured out this whole thing yet and didn't know how to e-mail the mods other than using the help@ or robo@... and I tried that a few times yesterday and the emails never went through. So...
