Sometimes people post a huuuuuuuuuuge block of text without cutting it into paragraphs. Reading some posts feels like a very daunting task sometimes, and its very easy to lose your place on the page.

Is there any way that the forum could automatically insert breaks into the text to create paragraphs in situations where a block of text goes over a certain number of words? I think I have seen this on other forums...

I agree sharp. I've edited some of these folks's posts who do that.

Ooh I agree too. But I just stop reading them when they're written like that. So yeah, a paragraph thing would be cool.

Umm I don't think we should set it up to randomly divide text into paragraphs. I mean, that's not really what a paragraph is, you know?

Sure, I know it would create some half-sentences and paragraphs would end abruptly, but it would be better than lots of people seeing a gargantuan block of text and thinking, there's no way I'm reading that!, which I reckon is what most people do now.

I agree it's tough to read one big block of text, I find myself crossing lines and losing my place all the time.

If there was a character limit to make people break up their post it would be good, once people see they have hit the limit they can re-write the last line to avoid cut-off sentences and things like that before they post, having the software automatically break it up after it's been submitted would cause problems, but it's definetly a good idea as I sometimes don't read posts like that because it requires more concentration than is reasonable for the lack of hitting the enter key.

I agree,

is it possible to get a word- counter while typing that warns you when it starts getting very long? (I guess that would take some programming... :p)

It's a petition called 'Spacing Coalition'... please go sign it.

I couldn't agree more.

This thread predates that one.

It appears it has made a comeback.

The message is definitely clear! - we want spacing!
