i think pm is good, its a way where people can meet each other and talk to each other without other people looking at their messages but i dont like getting random messages ;D

I'm sure this is true 100% of the time.

Yes. I spoke up and I'm going to make sure other people do it too! Those men better watch out. HA.
Good luck with that. I can't count the number of times i've tried to get a woman to report a guy and they refuse to. I've heard the same from others as well. So many women are so passive about it, and almost seem afraid to get the person in trouble. So funny they'll spend 5 minutes venting about the guy, ranging and raving, and soon as you suggest 'report' they fold.

What are you trying to get at?
That most people are just paranoid of someone who looks different than them pming them. Im starting to think a lot of the crazy people arent just the ones who are pming but the ones who are scared to death of getting pmd.

Well, some people seem to overreact to being PMed generally, but there is a valid reason some people don't want to be PMed by people from some countries. People from India, Pakistan and some African countries have a very high rate of seeking donations, asking for money, asking personal information, ignoring peoples verbal requests not to PM them, talking inappropriately to women, etc.. The rate is very high for these people, so i think most people would rather just avoid them, or at least until they prove themselves to be here to chat, like the rest of us, and not have ulterior motives. There have been a number of people from these areas that made many friends because they showed themselves to be here to make friends, like the rest of us.

Why?

Okay, ladies. These men are malicious. If we don't speak up, they will continue to hurt people, possibly teenagers.

I don't see anyone scared of people who look different from them.

What have I done? lol
This thread was created to share an idea, not condemn anyone.
As far as "people from other countries" goes, I don't have a problem with them. I don't want to chat with people even from my own country sometimes. The reason for posting this is to see if anyone would feel more comfortable if they had this feature. I think if we have a lot of people in the same boat, this could go somewhere. This is not directed toward any group- male or female, or race to race.

I'd also like to clear a few things up:
This feature would have a switch: A user would be able to change the settings off and on in their control panel here on CC.
This feature would also give the user the choices of blocked messaging, friends list messaging, or open messaging.

This could even be taken a step farther (maybe not as easy to program) to age restrictions. Say a teens only option for example. Of course we have a teens room, but the teens only chatting could extend into the bible study and lounge rooms.

UPDATE

There seems to now be an option in the Edit Options tab of the Control Panel, Messaging & Notification heading, Private Messaging sub-heading, that allows for the user to enable PMs only from contacts and moderators. It's a toggle, so use it if you wish, and don't if you don't wanna.

I have a notice in my PM box that I am not a fan of PMs because I'm more of a main chat person. My friends know it is ok to PM me anyway. I don't bite. :)

If I don't want to answer a PM, I just don't. It's not a problem.

I'm also not a fan of guys asking in main chat if they can PM me because I feel awkward saying that I don't want them to if I don't know them or if I'm involved in a conversation in the main chat at the time.

PMs are probably not an issue for me because I'm really mean and no one wants to talk to me anyway. :D

Then I redact my last statement. Thanks Once. For everyone else, sorry for giving you hope, then tearing it away from your child-like hands.
