I think Dallas would be the best option. If I can help out with anything, let me know.

Well, I just got off the phone with Caribbean Cruises. They will be calling me back this morning for continued talks about the possiblility of hosting the worship weekend on board a cruise ship out of Ft. Lauderdale, FL to the Bahams with hotel accomidations in Orlando preceding, to spend an optional day at Disney World, all meals, entertainment and transportation all-inclusive for an incredible rate. Their marketing department will be talking to me as well about co-sponsoring a big-name Christian band to play on board, similar to the K-Love Christian Music Cruise, but for a REALLY good rate. An insane rate..
So low I'm hesitant to even talk about it right now.. (but I can tell you I am VERY excited - this one sounds do-able even for college students..)

So the next two things on the itinerary will be talking to the bands that we would possibly bring to the event.
I am also going to be working on reduced airfare and other group travel to make traveling from the other coast pretty cheap, if we go this route.
Let me know what you guys think. This is not our only option, but it SURE has potential to be AMAZING and AFFORDABLE.

Love in Christ,
Nate :D

Nate, your excitement and dedication to this project is just amazing. If you can make it come together in the way we are hoping, it's going to become absolutely amazing for all CC members involved. I hope everyone plans and budgets to be able to make this become a reality... (While remembering to give to the place that made all these friends possible even if it's only $5 a month if you can)

Ooh, the Carribean is even better than having it in Texas! . . . . . .*wonders if there's any chance of running in to Jack Sparrow.* Oh, I do hope so!

I've never been on a cruise before, so I don't know how relevant this is, but wouldn't people need to have passports to get on a cruise, or are they not necessary? If so, that might need to be another factor that people think about.

Oh yeah, that's a very god point, Pineapple. It's not that hard to get one, it just takes a while. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think all you need is the passport application, your birth certificate, and passport pictures. You can get the application online. You can apply at the post office, or at the courthouse, like I did. You can pay for it by money order, or check. I don't know if different states have different rules, but that's how it works in Texas.

Correct - a passport is needed for this particular option because you are going to another country (the Bahamas). Sorry - thanks for bringing that up!

BTW, I am finding airfares from Dallas, Seattle, LA, Minneapolis, and Chicago to that area of Florida for $250 or less, round trip. (Denver for $270) I might be able to get us an additional discount with an airline though. I'm working on it.

Yeah that's basically it. In this country, you can go to the passport office and have it done in a day if you really wanted to. Then again, this is a small country so that probably wouldn't apply so well to the States....

And Nate, are those airfares from major carriers or budget airlines?

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that it takes 4-6 weeks to arrive. I had to submit extra ID several times, so it took longer. Allow extra time for any unexpected snags. I don't think we need visas, do we?

Go to the Caribibean Cruises website and see what they say is required. I do not believe a passport is required for cruising to the Bahamas.

From the Website:

Will I need a passport or visa? All U.S. citizens must have valid proof of citizenship - a passport, certified birth certificate or certified naturalization certificate. Resident aliens must travel with their "Green Card" Alien registration cards. Guests from other countries should check with their travel agent or appropriate consulate to determine necessary travel documentation. All guests over 16 years must carry a picture ID - state or provincial driver's license with a picture or a government photo ID card.

Please note that passengers arriving at the pier without valid documentation will not be allowed to board the vessel and will not be entitled to any refund of fare or compensation.

BUt best to maybe check into it further.
