Matthew 18:20
For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

That's it - we can't stand it any longer!

A few of us have decided that we really want to have a get together, and are organizing a North American meetup in the United States for C.C. friends and family, the middle of August , 2010 (before school starts). We are organizing events, worship teams, and possibly a big-name Christian band as well. There are quite a few worship leaders, speakers, and musical talents in CC, which we want to involve heavily in the events, all run and organized by C.C. members. We would like to have guest speakers and activities, to include maybe a discounted day at an amusement park, a day of local FUN, WHOLESOME activities and maybe a seminar or two, and best of all... lots of heart-felt worship, in-person with C.C. friends and families!

Now we need help in deciding which city will host the event!

We want as many C.C. people and their friends and family to be able to attend as possible, so if there is a major airport hub near you and a city that sounds like it could meet the above-mentioned goals, here is your chance to throw the name into the hat.

The following are cities that have been suggested for consideration:

Los Angeles, CA
Seattle, WA
Denver, CO
Dallas, TX
Chicago, IL
Atlanta, GA

Power in numbers!
The more people who are willing to go, the better rates we can get for travel deals and accomodations. Combination car-pooling/airfare/bus/etc. will be highly encouraged and we can organize group travel to encourge fellowship and help save you money - we want to see you there!

If you are in another country, and can't afford to fly across the globe to meet, don't be discouraged- you are NOT alone! Already, members are talking about hosting similar events in Asia, Europre and Australia.

There will be private efforts to raise funds to make this worship weekend happen. All ideas are most welcomed and can be directed to myself for the time being. If you are willing, able, or just feel led to help out, please let me know. Remember, if you are supporting C.C. financially, that remains the priority! We love this place that God has provided and want to make sure that all needs are met.

First and foremost, we want this to be an event that honors God. He has blessed us with this family and we intend to protect and cherish that! All glory to God!

*PLEASE NOTE - THIS IS NOT AN EVENT OFFICIALLY ORGANIZED BY CHRISTIAN CHAT, BUT INDEPENDENTLY BY ITS MEMBERS. PLEASE DO NOT FLOOD THE ADMINISTRATORS WITH QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS EVENT.

IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, SUGGESTIONS, OR WOULD LIKE TO VOLUNTEER, PLEASE CONTACT [email protected] AND TITLE YOUR EMAIL "2010 MEETUP". GOD BLESS YOU!!*

Malachi 1:11
My name will be great among the nations, from the rising to the setting of the sun. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to my name, because my name will be great among the nations," says the LORD Almighty.

Because of ChristianChat.com, you have been able to meet some of these great friends you want to plan a real life event for. Some will be budgeting 100's of dollars in to their budget so they can attend and have a 'big-name Christian band' and 'special speakers'.

If you're able to budget this significant amount of money to attend an event to meet people you've met on ChristianChat.com, could you possibly find a way to budget $1, $5, $10 or even more a month towards helping fund the site you met all these great people on? The total cost for a years worth of donations at that level will still be smaller than the total travel expenses most will have to attend this real life event. This is being asked of people who are not helping to contribute financially to this site. So if you already contribute, just ignore what is being said.

Again, to those who are unable to regularly contribute to this site, there is no pressure here. Yet, if you can budget in a big chunk of change to meet folks you met on CC, it follows that maybe you should consider actually financially contributing to the place that made these friendships possible.

You can help donate by scrolling to the top of the main page and clicking that server fund icon.

Just something to consider..

I have no intentions to attend this gathering, so my request is independent of this intent. To solicit additional funding for this site it could be beneficial if a list of the donated support, that has been made, was posted differently than from a total and/or percentage of what is needed. You could possibly motivate many more members (including me) to give, if we could see a list of how many gave what, without mentioning who.

Example: (the following may be unrealistic)

Donors & Amount
25 members @5.00 monthly
40 members @10.00 monthly
30 members @100.00 one time gift
15 members @15.00 bi/monthly
02 members @500.00 one time gift

When other members, who have not donated, look at something like this they can determine their 'niche' and their ability to give. If the list consisted of only (2) people giving large gifts and another (40) giving only what they could afford, that does not promote or constitute a group effort. I personally want to see a good number of people contributing to this site across the board, but others may think different.

I also think it would be promotional to give members the option to express why they have donated to this site and any benefits that they have personally received. When people can see real fruit, and I don't mean numbers, they will give with confidence and realize that they are giving to a trustworthy endeavor. You can't always take that for granted because there is such a wide verity of exchanges that takes place.

BLC: We do have places on this site that show EXACTLY what you are saying!!!! Wehave a donation button at the top of our page telling how much we need, and when. Also if you click on this button it will show you how much has been donated by each person. Donations are allowed to be anonymous.

We also have a forum on the bottom of the page asking for up to 40 people to contribute $25 per month or more. Perhaps you should look closer at our site.

Will it help keep on topic for the thread if I let you know that proceeds from a concert event, if it comes together, will be donated to C.C.? Yes, we need to contribute to C.C.

The purpose of this thread is to get people to nominate a major city to hold the event or to express your support for the idea / provide suggestions for the event.

Please try to stay on topic... especially this early in the thread. We need to gather intel to bring it together more smoothly. Thanks!

I'd like to go if I can! I voted for Dallas not only because it is convenient for me, but because it is one of the largest airports (and therefore one of the easiest to get cheap tickets to) in the country. And most of the other cities on the list are the same way.

Other cities I would suggest are:
Kansas City, MO
Minneapolis, MN
because they are centrally located.
Also, LAS VEGAS, BABY! WOO! (jk)

Another consideration would be the meeting place. For example, if someone has access to a nice church building we could use, or can get us cheap hotel rooms, etc., these would be major factors in deciding where to go. (you talked about this issue too, polarguy) Seattle might be a better option, for example, if we could have free use of a church building and $30 hotel rooms, even though it is not at all a central location.

Unfortunately, I do not have any connections that could help us out :(

Thanks Alayna, I guess I was expecting more and something different. I apologize for being off topic. Won't happen again.

I think it should take place somewhere in the middle of the u.s., that way the people from the east coast wouldnt have to spend lots of money flying aaalll the way over to the west coast and the people from the west coast wouldnt have to fly aaallll the way over to the east coast..... Just a suggestion to kinda make it fair...

ON 2nd thought, maybe Texas or Oklahoma would be a good place to have it after all. They are in the middle of the country.

I'd lean to Texas with that choice as they have better air links IMO.

Depending on where we end up having this, PolarGuy may be able to help you all with finding cheap flights... I don't know exactly what connections he has, but we will try and find the cheapest possible. Also, I have multiple connections with hotels, working at a Holiday Inn myself, if we have enough people for 20 or more rooms at a hotel, I am sure I can work or a good group rate with the sales department in a hotel in any city we may stay in.
