Ya, I know what you mean. It could cause more problems than it would solve I suppose since like you said, just making sure you have contact info would totally sidestep the whole thing. Me and you haven't spoken much but I see you post all the time. If i ever seen banned by your name I would be like Ugly got banned? WHYYYYYY!!!!!????? lol.
Don't be too surprised if it happens. There have been times I expected it and it never happened.. haha

I understand if you're friends with someone and they get banned you might be worried, otherwise I just assume they did something that broke the CC policy. I don't see see a reason why a forum or thread is needed about it. That sounds a little odd to me. If you're not doing anything wrong then you don't have to worry about being banned. I've read things in the Bible discussion forum that make me read twice to see if I read it right. I've only reported someone once because of bad language, but I feel everyone is entitled to their opinon , if I don't agree then oh well I'm still waking up tomorrow.

I can understand the worries. A lot of my friends have been banned but most of the times, I manage to exchange contact info in case it were to happen and we can resume contact. If they are predators (like another user who has been banned), I will not try to find them again. Back in March, he added me on Facebook and then I got a suspicious message saying that he was a predator and hence why he got banned from CC. But most of the time, they are normal people who live on the edge. I understand the frustrations.

Fair enough, but If Sue and Dave had some inappropriate conversations of the sexual nature in the forums then yes, all the more reason to expose it to show that will not be tolerated:)........but I do get your point.
Think of banning as divorce court: it's open to the public, but do you really, really want to sit for the hearings? Like NOT!

This may come as a surprise to you, but usually when somebody lands on my ignore list, it's a matter of days before they are banned. Then those on my Friend List who may get banned, I kinda see it coming from they way they are posting in forums.

As a sister in Christ, it's really not my place to tell the brother what to do when I see forums getting all tangled up. I can only pray that those banned learn from their mistakes as I do, and may the Lord rebuke those provoking anger in others, for the Lord has called us to peace wherever possible.

I see your point...

Banned (Offensive Communications Towards Other CC Members)
Banned (Inappropriate Behavior and/or Language)
Banned (Submitted Material Inappropriate For A Christian Chat Room Or Forum)
Banned (Inappropriate Chat Room Conduct)
Banned (Inappropriate User Name)
Banned (Inappropriate Media Links. Ex. Music, non PG Videos)
Banned (Unauthorized Commercial Links and/or Spam)

None of those categories are particularly accusational...
LOL. Are those not the bulk of the background reasons for "Banned" in the first place?

Frankly, it's best not knowing "their problems" because that's an open door to gossip, and you may as well get "Banned" for going on the gossip trail...

I suggest to leave stuff peachy as it is. Well, if you wanna ban MidniteWelder, I'm peachy with that...
Just kidding ya, brother!!! LOL :D

I always thought a lot of folks got banned for what they said/ did on live chat or what they pmed to people more than what is on the forums. though sometimes folks explode on the forums too.

either way I think it would be a BAD idea to post bann reasons.

mainly because it would cause bad feelings and sometimes the banns are temporary and the person comes back, but then they could be shunned or made to feel less worthy instead of forgiven because others know their transgressions but not the full story, just a banner bann reason.

ok run on sentence... i'm going to bed now. lol.

I would just like to suggest that is it not possible to have a separate section with a list of persons that have been banned with a short description as to the reason they have been banned.

So many times one sees someone has been banned and because there is no understanding as to why it leads to confusion. If we knew the reasons then that would be an example of what to be careful about...surely. A few that have been banned I have read their recent posts and could find nothing that appears to warrant a ban, then one starts wondering if it was a personal vendetta or something. I am fully aware the enormous tasks the mods have but could we not have some transparency? Now I hope I am not out of line for suggesting this.

I think this would also stop potential rumors against CC as well
Staff business ( not cool )

What I wonder is why people who are banned are still showing up here?

Posts are not deleted just because you're banned. Some bans are not permanent also, and people may be allowed to return to the site after a period of time. Though i think thats less common.

I just find it amusing to see a poster with Banned on their profile. And most people do deserve a second chance.

I still have a question. Why don't you ask both sides the defendant and prosecutor when it comes to this kind of situations. I know you have a lot to work on this kind of issues, I'm a support engineer myself so I understand it better but I think it is the right thing to do. That's my opinion.

As has been stated numerous times, CC does not typically release the details of why someone was banned, and they do not want to be questioned about it. Also, unless you have a way to contact someone off CC who is banned, you can't ask them either. From the ones i have heard the reasons behind, the people who have been banned seem justifiable.

Aris, we do not just ban on a whim. There is documented evidence in every situation to keep for our records. I promise, we've looked at both sides of a conversation and kept logs before we ban.

That wouldnt be a bad idea but personally an this is just my opinion if i was to gave a site like this i would have ether A. A group of people who where elected by the people usesingt he website who controlled any bannning but not where any one persoan can decide to ban someone but the majority of the group would have to agree the person should be banned.. or B make it wgere any banning had to be voted on by the people useing the website like put up a thread explaining the reasons why the person should be banned an set up a time limit for voting. So the people on the site during that time woupd decide if the person should be banned or not.... an in extreme cases have the person on a temp banned until voting is done..... an sure this may be a lil more work for some people but it would be alot more just an fair an whats a lil extra work in the name of fairness exapecially for christians.

The mods or admin who does the banning, does NOT need to expose there reasons of banning. Otherwise this site will start going the ways of facebook. and other social networking sites that are airing people's Business, and causing people who to be nosey, and snoop in people business and lives were they don't belong. Hence, more trouble, more confusion, and most definitely more arguments. and last but not least, less privacy.

The fact is, people who are banned, from this site, is down to there stupidity, and lack of respect. And it was with reason by the mods and admin that they are banned, and to be honest? I don't want to know why they were banned, I just want to know that the admin and mods are doing there jobs trying to keep this site a great place to be. Again it's none of my business as to why they were banned and it shouldn't be anyone else.
