In the new members forum maybe put a sticky linking the web chat for new members explaining to click the link for a nice active wholesome chat... I see tons of posts of people just wanting to chat actively but don't get a reply for a hour or so do to the slow and lax nature of the forums...

I know that there is a big link on the front page, and before they sign up they see it... However the location of the chat set up when they are signed up looks like an advertisement to me personally..

Or how about better yet when they try to post make them directed to a pop-up that is locked for x amount of seconds forcing them to read about the chat room...

I am willing to bet most who introduce them selves don't have a pop-up blocker...
