I'm not a fast typer, nor do I like to talk on the mic. In fact, I don't even have a working mic right now. My experience has been that a few ppl with mics who have no qualms about using them tend to dominate the chatroom, and if anyone else posts something it often gets ignored or missed.

In the interest of including everyone regardless of their temperament or equipment, I propose having a text-only room. (Another idea I just thought of (brainstorming here) would be perhaps a 'mic by permission only from current mod' room, similar to what is done on paltalk.)

Just some thoughts. Interested to get feedback on the text-only idea, and its logistic feasiblilty from those who understand the tech side.

I'm concerned with those peeps who can't just jump right in and join conversations and who walks away when ignored . a lot of my friends log in and when I get back from afk, they're already gone coz they cant join the convo

I totally support the request for a text only room, or ideally to make the lounge a text only room and move voice chat somewhere else. I don't use sound at all in chat.

same here. i never turn on the sound cuz it usually disrupts my music and other ppl in my house. not to mention with my uber slow connection the voices always get lagged and tweak out.

Yes! The voice chat disrupts my impeccable taste in music! What's the point of having impeccable taste if I can't enjoy the fruits of it?

i don't mind the mics so much... maybe if they have a limited time... like, if they're gonna sing a WHOLE SONG (!) maybe they should be cut off sometime. But yeah.. i'm in favor of a mic-free room Pleeeeeeeeeease!!!!!!!!!

Although I do not like the mic and never used it, I do not support converting the chat back to text-only. This is only because even though I do not like it, there are other people who do and, though there is a chance for abuse, I have witnessed some very good disciplined conversations on the mic.

I propose an alternate solution, how about providing the means for users who do not want the mic to simply disable voice from the settings option?

What I propose is the inclusion of a room set aside for people that don't like voice chat. Frankly, I rarely go into the chat these days simply because the voice gets on my nerves, and even when it's muted, it's impossible to join a conversation because I have no idea what's going on.

I will add my "voice" to this idea..I LOVE this idea!!!! I have no problem with voice chat, other than alllll the reasons already stated on this forum..... I do feel many times if you don't have a mic and can't do the voice chats.....you get ignored completely, (I just got that tonight myself) Also that it can be dominated by a certain few....and too yes, I like listening to my music too!! I think a "no mic room" or "text only" room, whatever you call it, would be a GREAT addition to CC!!! Thanks Daddycat for the suggestion..maybe if we have enough that agree....?? we may get it done??....Robo??? Ohhhh Rooobooo??????

POINT OF CLARIFICATION...
My suggestion is not to make the whole site text-only, but to set up one room that would be text-only. The rest of the rooms would remain as they are. There seems to have been some misunderstanding on this point.
