I agree. Or perhaps even a forum for girls only.

This has been suggested too. I think a forum might be a good idea, because then if there's any girls who wish to speak with other girls and seek advice or prayer or whatever, they can give as many (or as little) details as they like in a post in the forums.

I guess it's a matter of programming, and if it is possible to make a room/forum that is only accessible to registered female users.

if you think i wouldn't register as a woman just to see what's going on in there you're wrong.

don't do it. its a bad idea.

but i voted yes.

That's what I mean. There has to be some way to ensure that only women go in there.
Maybe password protect it, and you have to get the password from a Mod? I dunno, I'm just thinking here...
You had to vote yes, there's no other choice lol.

Running the risk of becoming totally seperated here. Mens rooms, Womens rooms. i mean this was my fear from the beginning, but hey. i guess i understand. It is what it is....

I think the idea has come from (past requests) for a girls only forum.

There are some girls here who want to talk with other girls about girl issues. They have expressed that they don't necassarily feel comfortable airing everthing out on a public forum, but would like to get advice from women of all ages etc.

I agree with you, I don't think a specific room is such a good idea, as it may result in separation as you suggest Tri, but I think a forum could well be helpful. Just a matter of if it is possible at all :)

I did not vote. a forum maybe, but a room not so sure.. I mean a men's and a women's room what are we putting up bathrooms in here now too? That was joke btw. But really are all these rooms needed? We have too many rooms now. I for one would rather keep everyone together.

I agree with keeping everyone together for fellowship.

But I also understand how some girls might have issues they only feel comfortable sharing with other females; for that reason, I think a forum might not be such a bad idea. :)

I agree with Kevin about not seperating members of the body from eachother, but seperating the things were discussing by making forums for them isnt dividing the Body, it's providing order to our gathering. Right? But in regards to this idea, i think what Ira said in a different thread in this forum, is applicable (I've replaced the words 'praying for' with 'talking to'):

You could always PC a couple of people you really trust, with all the details.

That way you have a few solid, people you trust, talking to you...

Just a thought..

I agree, or you could always go in an empty room like Random and make it clear that there is a discussion for females only going on.

Just as long as the content is kept Christian in the room/forum.

I observed some gals in here once who made their room 'women' only for a bit and some of the talk wasn't really cohesive with our site's rules.

First- Pine and Dieu what you suggested has been tried and shot down.

There are pros and cons to a women's room.

Pros:
If a woman wants to get prayer for something personal she can go to the women's room and not worry about weirdo men lurking around and listening in and pming her inappropriate stuff.

Issues can be talked about between women without upsetting others, like modest dressing ( this topic brought up in bible study deeply offended some because men were there) eating disorders (some men don't understand what a touchy subject this is) equality and gender roles (without it turning into a joke)

Cons:
If women don't use it, it could end up just another room on the list.

It may become a place for gossip etc. Maybe but I think if people want to gossip they'll find a way with or without a room and the entire site is subject to mods for a reason. (same goes for all the other transgressions)

I agree with Kyra, and I was trying to express my point without going into too much detail;but so you all get a better perspective on where I stand on this, here's an idea.

I know of girls/women who wish to be able to talk to other women about issues such as 'marital problems, their spouse no longer being intimate, concerns with womens health issues, children, dating, sex, bla bla bla' you get the idea.

Some of these things are MASSIVE issues, and it would be nice to be able to have other women of varying ages and experience to glean from. Sometimes just typing out your concerns, can help relive all the tension. But who wants to do that if its a public forum? You know what I mean?

Oh, and I see Chris' point too. Of course it would have to be kept within the realms of suitable discussion topics, but we do have female moderators you know ?

This is totally a legit idea, but from my experience, the girls only room was a cover for talking about trashy things under the guise of 'girl only talk'. And I really think that needs to be taken in to consideration.

Yes, I think you are right. I totally acknowledge that too. I guess there's no real way to police it short of having the room constantly moderated, which isn't possible.

Oh well, something to think about I guess :)

It's not like there is a rogue band of women who are constantly gathering and talking trash.(At least not that I am aware of) The only time I am aware there was an issue, stilly came and spoke to us and it stopped. We weren't trying to cause trouble or be lewd, and we respectfully changed the topic.

If we have female moderators and rules that are listed, I think women will act appropriately. If the teen room, the singles room and the young adults room can be handled, I think a womens room can be handled as well.

I voted yes. I mean, I'm OK with having any number of rooms for any number of purposes. The more, the merrier.

Although if we're going to be fair here, it seems like there ought to also be a male room where women are not allowed, right?
