I would like to suggest that each account's religion be put on display in the forums. This way folks will know what background the person they are talking to is coming from. I know there are probably folks who come here who get bad advice from atheists or someone in a heretical sect and they never think to check what religion the person is who they are talking to. Folks tend to assume they are talking to an orthodox (traditional) Christian since most folks here are somewhat orthodox Christians.

Me thinks it will be helpful.

Religion is not what you ARE, it's something you DO.

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:
to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself
from being polluted by the world."

[James 1:27]

It's already on my profile that I'm a Christian
[meaning I believe in Jesus Christ]
and that suffices.

Maybe for you it is enough but I'm not following your logic. You just stated a philosophy and said you think it's enough that it's on your profile. You didn't even address my concerns. What's up with that?

I can't help it if you don't get it.

Thanks for stopping by. Hopefully more helpful contributions to the discussion will come by that are less presumptuous and more charitable.

Aamir,

I don't know if I understand what you are saying...
What I get from your post is that I can measure the value of an advice based on the confession/religion of the person giving me that advice; something like: "Oh, you are an atheist/mormon/catholic/greek-orthodox/calvinist/pentecostal etc.? Than your advice must be a good/bad advice".

I second Ecclesiastik's suggestion. The problem is that there are atheists coming on here saying things like, "It's okay for you to sleep with your boyfriend" and we don't want the advice asker to think that they are getting sound Christian advice just because they are on a Christian forum, when this is not always the case. Generally these atheists end up getting banned anyways (thankfully) but I can see the problem is still there.

It's pretty much was Animus was saying, Simona. And yes, you always have to consider the source. I'm not giving absolutes with advice. However, consider that the Word says that whoever walks with the wise will become wise but a companion of fools will suffer harm.

Putting labels would help our less discerning bros and sis, and would aid our more discerning bros and sisters to quickly identify wolves.

I can see both sides of the argument, but for right now, you can click on someone's name, go to their profile, and see if they're a Christian or not. (Surprisingly enough, there's a lot of people on this forum listed as "not Christian".) Also, some people post their denominational affiliation in their profile, which can be nice to know.

Here's a thread where you can click some profiles and see both Christians and non-Christians:

It's already on each user's profile. If we are gonna take the time to read and type up a reply to a user, surely we can take the two seconds to click their profile. The user information that is currently beside each post is already pretty busy looking to me.

The problem is not that I or you do not know how to click on someone's profile and look at their religion.

The problem is that there are extremely young and immature Christians on this website who are ripe for the picking by wolves.

The user information besides each post still had blank space at the bottom and even if it looks "busy" what is more important? Your comfort level or souls?

Good idea! The facts are that ANY would llie or say another thing they really are (or another way they THINK they are). According to my pics I´m taken as a Jew. According to me beliefs, some think I´m not a believer or agnostic... Could that be sorted out? No so easily.

Acting in accordance with your subgection, I´m going to say -in my present day profile- I´m not trinitarianist.

Thanks!

The problem with the 'its on their profile' issue is that not all new users know how to access a persons profile. And most new users will assume the responses they are getting are from Christians, so they aren't going to think to look at the profile. Or may not even be aware it's listed. And since many new users come seeking answers, this can be a hindrance.

I'm one to say that any user on here needs to be like the Bereans. I've seen horrible anti-biblical advice given by "mainstream christians" and I've seen very sound advice that would line up with scripture come from known atheists. Adding an additional piece of information to the profile only gives the dishonest one more thing to lie about.

Your profile picture is UnChristianlike. As Christians we are to be the light of the world. How can you possibly expect people to see your divine light while you're wearing sunglasses?????

I wasn't being sarcastic. Thank you for stopping by but you hardly contributed to the conversation at all. All you did was criticize me then when I asked you to explain, you refused. So thank you for choosing to answer but my first impression of you is not so great.

God bless you and have a wonderful day.
